Intel 3820 it's okay and yes u can OC it (googling bro).

As for VGA card better be wait a little while until GTX 6xx series release.

Or consider the new 2600k/3770k?

If you don't want to splash out on the 2011 then either of those chips will be very affordable and hyper threading will help you with the music production.

Sorry but i disagree. A entry level 2011 rig with a 3820 can be had for the same money as a 1155/z77 with a 2600k/3770k and the 2011 will perform the same if not better in most situations. Also keep in mind 1155/z77 stops at quad core. 2011's entry chip is a quad with Hyper Threading. It has the superior upgrade path if you plan on keeping this machine for a looooong time and get heavy into editing. On the other hand if you just want to game and just plan on tinkering with editing I agree with TTL. Get a 2500k and spend the extra money on a video card and call it a day

"PSU im looking at the OCZ ZX1000W"

Please be aware that OCZ does not have a very good reputation for reliable power supplies !

Personally I would go for something put out by company with a proven track record, the likes of Corsair, Enermax etc. as a good PSU is a solid foundation for a good rig.

I think im going to go with the 2011 range for processor and wait until the rest of the GTX 600 series get released for the graphics upgrade

If its mainly gaming forget 2011 and just get an 1155 based rig and save your money...

Rampage 4 with a 560....? No one else see that the money saved should be spend on better graphics as this is for GAMING
i totally agree when i was buying my new system scan said don't get 1155 get 2011 its newer i knew they wanted more £££ of me so i ignored them spent double on my graphics card getting a gtx 580 then cranked up my 2500k and boom a quality gaming rig that does whatever else i want it to do better gpu ftw every time from now on

Good points well put but it very much depends on whether the op intends to upgrade to one of the 6 cores. Certainly over here the 3820 is a very similar price to a 2600k but the mobos are ~£50 more and the memory is quad channel so need to buy 4 sticks. If there is no intention to upgrade to a hexcore 2011 then the op might as well save ~£100 and get a 2600k.

Financially I think it makes more sense to either bite the bullet and go 3930k or be happy with 2600k in this situation. Seems like a bit of a waste of money to buy a 3820 and use it only for 6 months whilst waiting for IB-e to me.

And yes, 2011 is always going to be the better option for future-proofing a system if you can make use of the threads in the meantime.

Just a side note i've heard very bad review on the OCZ Agility series of SSDs there have been loads of problems with them apparently, i'd go for a crucial model or samsung are pretty good price wise.
