Hi everyone this is my first post in OC3D post.Im gonna be building a new killer rig for 2700$(mainly gaminng and 3d software like 3ds Max) and i came up with the following:

Core i7 930

GTX 480 or ASUS HD5870 Matrix

ASUS Ramapge III Extreme

CM Cosmos S

Thermaltake Toughpower 1500w

Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 2000 MHz

WD Raptor 600GB

Corsair H-50

I was wondering whether it would be wise to get a GTX 480 or wait for the ASUS Matrix.I could really use your help Tom.

Well the 480 is more powerfull than any 5870, but its also louder and hotter too. Really depends on what you want tbh fella.

ASUS are claiming that the Matrix is gonna be 19% faster than a generic HD5870.I think ill wait until they release it and see the reviews against the GTX 480.Could you guys try to get it early?

It will be faster as it has a higher stock clock, thats a no brainer. Im working on it now but it will come when its ready.

Ya but 19% thats kick-ass faster even the TOXIC with 2 GB is 10% faster than generic with higher clocks than suggested for the Matrix. If what ASUS claims is true the Matrix will be faster than the GTX 480.

Okay anyway if i get the GTX 480 or the Matrix (ill sli or crossfire depending in bout 4 months) will it last me atleast 3 years for playing the newest games (not necessarily at full settings)?

The 480 will decimate a 5870 no matter what, it just needs cooling as its far too loud with the stock cooler.

I got 24k vantage when I clocked the 480 we had, the 5870 as it stands atm will NEVER get close to it.

OK i also need a good gaming mouse n keyboard can get gigabyte, microsoft sidewinder, all steel series, logitech and razor also the best soundcard.

Any suggestions for a good gaming mouse and keyboard (steel series, logitech and razor only). And a good pci soundcard (not express).

As for a mouse I replaced my Logitech MX518 with the Razer Death Adder 3500DPI and couldn't be happier. It's one of the best gaming mice on the market right now.

As far as keyboard, what kind of features do you want? If all you need is a simple keyboard then the Steelseries 7G is an amazing keyboard. Top notch construction and feels awesome while gaming.

I would go with either the SteelSeries 7G, Logitech G15/G19 or the Razer Lycosa for the keyboard.. (if money isn't an issue, these keyboards aren't cheap:p)

As for the mouse... I can recommend the Logitech G9(X), the Logitech G500 and the SteelSeries Ikari Laser, but you should really go to a computer store and just pick one that suits you, since everybody has different hands.

lol that just seens like a gimmick, its good for stats and temps etc etc but anything other than that is just pointless lol, unless u have money to burn
