New build in a Lian Li PC-P80N

Just started with something. Was in need of a new case with higher airflow since the 800D could not supply my two GTX590 with enough air to breathe.

so, the new stuff will be:

- Lian Li PC-P80N

- Custom paint, glossy black internals, white externals

- NZXT sleeved cables (fans, SATA, Power...)

- NZXT sentry LXE fan controller (external, touchscreen)

- New NH-D14 with Spectre Pro fans

- Therefore new Corsair LP memory

- Bitfenix Spectre Pro fans

- KingMod sound dampening sheets

the old stuff that will go in there:

- Asus R3E

- Intel i7 980X

- Dual GTX590

- Asus Xonar D2X

- 3 Intel SSD's

- 1 RevoDrive X2

- LG BD Rom (nooo, I really need it to rip my BD's and have it ready on my NAS)

- Corsair AX1200 PSU

I just got the case back from painting. So I'll try and post some pics here. Hope that works out.

There's still a lot to do and I'll post the progress in here. Still haven't got all the bits handy.

Yep the colour scheme is really nice. Looking forward to some more updates

Got the case back together. It's a miracle :-). I am usually all thumbs. I'm lucky my girlfriend is a machine design engineer and can help me out sometimes :-).

If I've got the time I'll be taking my old rig apart tomorrow or Saturday and fitting it into the new case. We'll see how that goes.

I however did expierence some problems with the rubber washers intended to dampen the fan's vibrations. Had to use really small ones to fit the top properly and the dust filter in the front door. We'll see how that works out.

arrrgghh.....

After having spent hours getting the cables nice and tidy (which is a pita using a lian li case), I finally got to the point where I wanted to fit the NH-D14 to the socket. Sadly a support beam of the chassis is in the way i cannot unscrew because it's bolted. furthermore it's an integral part of the chassis. either way we're talking about 5 mm. the chassis is wide enough, what I actually did check before I ordered that one.

I'll try and mount the H100 to the 140mm fans in a pull config as they have 120mm mounts as well and spacings seem to fit. There is surely not enough room for a push-pull configuration. I hope the fans will not be sucking all the air from the side. I'll see how that works out. I'm a little pissed because i will have to take out the motherboard again. The cpu cutout does not cover all the mounting holes and I don't want to remove the whole tray because of the really tidy cablemanagement I spent hours with today.

Alternatives I rather wouldn't like to explore would be a H80, an H70 currently in my posession cooling my workhorse rig, an old H50 or getting the NZXT Havik. I'd rather go with my H100 because temps are really good and if you mount decent fans it's quiet as well.

I will also not be able to install the sound dampening stuff in the back. There's just not enough room beside all the cables. But I'll mount it on the bottom and the other side panel. I think of it as a vibration killer rather than real sound dampening. Already got that on my girfriend's rig in a quite similar Lian Li case (with a large Noctua single tower cooler..).

In the afternoon I've tried to switch fans on the NH-D14 but didn't work out with the spectre pro's. They lack the mounting hole being accessible from inside the fan's frame.

I'll keep you posted.

But the rig looks really good now. I'll try and upload some more photos tomorrow.

got the H100 mounted finally. all doing well except the battery of the fan controller (to keep settings while powered off) seems to be dead. no big deal.

This is a really nice case and system that you have. The white looks lovely. Always been a fan of the Armoursuit. Thank you for sharing this.

Looks good. Alitle more cable management and its perfect. Maybe change those sata cables to black or white ones and thuck them more away?

Really love the exterior paint job on that case, and the blue led fans set it off perfectly.

Hey there. I've been debating grabbing the PC-P80N to replace my ATCS 840 (I really want to have the ability to go XL-ATX and HTPX if need be). My question is, does the top of the case have 120mm mounting holes spaced correctly for the H100 radiator, or are the 140mm fans it has equipped with 120mm mounting holes that fit? It's kind of been the deal breaker for me. Also, how's the cooling? Does the air get out of the top ok through the vents? Thanks for any help you can render.

there are only 140mm mounting holes, however they've got 15mm spacings. I use 140mm fans that have both mounts. on the 120mm mounts of the one fan I attached the H100. temps are good, noise level is a little too high imho.

the air leaves well through the vents, you can feel it quite good when the cpu is under heavy load.

I own this case as well and I recently encountered a problem, I'm not sure if it's a design flaw, but whenever I pull a USB out of the front I/O panel the entire top panel pops off along with it.

A reviewer on Newegg said he found a solution but I'm not sure what exactly is he talking about.

I almost complained but decided to investigate before I looked like an idiot. The top panel EASILY pops loose. Pulling a USB will remove the top panel with it. Although, I found two fasteners through the ceiling just inside of the front panel fixes this. That was probably mentioned in the instructions that I didn't read.

I cannot find/locate the fasteners this user has stated. Does he mean behind the 5.25 bay covers or behind the case door?

I tried looked on the ceiling behind the front door and I do see two holes but there are no threads to mount a screw or fasteners like the user stated.

yeah, got that too the first time on saturday. but so far only once. mine does come off a little easier because I've been using rubber washers between fan screws and roof. the top panel is maybe 1 mm off it's usual position because it's not wide enough. Don't know of any fasteners but I'll have a look some time soon.
