Hey people im planning on a new build which is mainly for OCing, wtching DVD's and Gaming. Im planning to build it for around the £500 mark and have come up with this spec:

ASUS P5Q Deluxe Mobo

E1200 CPU

2gb Crucial ballistix RAM

2X WD 80gb hard drives running raid 0

Antec 300 case

Thermaltake toughpower 750w modular Psu

ATI 4850 IceQ Turbo graphics card

Vista home basic OS

I currently have a 15" monitor which i want to keep for this build, so is this spec going to suit my rquirements or is there any other better options for simular price or cheeper?

Cheers in advance guys

I would get:

Asus P5Q Pro

Intel E5200/E7200 (easily OCs to 3.6 - 3.8GHz)

2GB Crucial Ballistix

ATI HD4850

ThermalTake 600w

Antec 300/900

Vista Home Basic 32bit

The PSU you opted for is way over what you require, and so is this 600w one. A 580w Hiper will be okay for you and it is cheaper although this one provides more scope for upgrades in the future. The motherboard isn't required to be the Deluxe version, the Pro is ample. Changed the CPU though, as this one is a much better performer.

Don't get raptors, get something larger, you'll definatley need more space than a RAID 0 array with 2*80GB drives.

I thought I would never fill a 160GB drive but remember the formatted size of the drive is less (~130GB for me) and with just windows and programs on the C drive it's already 50% full!

A 4850 for a 15" screen? I'd either go for a cheaper card (4650, nVidia 9600) for such a small res.

If you however can push a 22 or 24 inch monitor in the budget, this would be a great setup :)

EDIT: and I'd go for a single 7200 rpm harddisk. More storage, less noise and almost the same performance if you go 750gb+

Thanks for all suggestions guys, another thing is i dont know what cooler to go for. I was thinking a zalman duorb or something in that type of area.

Are there any other good coolers in the 775 package that will keep the CPU nice and cool?

cheers
