Hi peeps,

dident know where to put this so here it is
tongue.gif

i have recently upgraded my pc to a PZ68 v-pro mobo and a core i5 at 3.2 with 8gig of vengence ram

the problem is when i start the pc off the main power switch it has a slight delay of about a 1 second then boots up

but as far as i can tell when i use the onboard mobo start button there is no delay and its strange

because this is my first upgrade of this scale i am a bit worried incase i have done something to make this happen coz it never did it before i upgraded or maybe it just the mobo i dont know.

any help or ideas are welcome

thanks in advanced

Sounds normal to me, if you press the power switch on your case there is a delay of it being pressed and it sending the signal to the board but if you press the button on the board it's self there is no delay and it powers up strait away.

it seems strange though, it never used to do it with my old board but its very noticable and its kinda off putting like at one point i thought i hadent even pressed the button so i pressed it again then it booted up then shut off again there was that much lag.

only thing i can do is record it or something maybe

anyway thanks for your help

When I press the power switch on my CM 690 II there is a slight delay between pressing the button and it starting up, my P8P67 doesn't have the switch to switch it on at the board so I can't do a comparison but there is definietly a slight delay, only a fraction of a second though.

As long as it's powering up then I wouldn't worry, if it gets worse as in starts to take longer then I would worry but for now it seems ok.

Hi,

Interestingly my older ASUS motherboards (P35 and P45 chipsets) all have a slight delay after pressing the button, of at least 1 second, followed by some sort of test before really starting up. I.e. the lights come on, go off for a second, then boot up begins - they've always been like this.

My ASUS P8Z68-V pro on the other hand begins to start up a fraction of a second after pressing the power button, no noticable delay.

Doubtless there's a setting somewhere...

Scoob.

thanks peeps for the info, but while i have a thread open i would like to ask why wont my USB ports work any ideas?

i have indeed, i have even run Driver Geniuse to see if i missed any.

in the device manager they all show up as working ok, but they dont

Sounds like you may have a broken board, I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't be working.

If the devices are showing up in the device manager they are being read properly but if they are not functioning that sounds as if the problem is with the board, I could be wrong but I can't think of anything to do with Windows that may be causing it.

The only thing I can suggest is try doing a fresh install of Windows and all the motherboard drivers but if that does not work and you still have probs i'd say it's the motherboard and you need to get it replaced.

I really appreciate all the help everyone has given me over this

if I find out a reason for this i will share it because this is just annoying lol, but as you say I think it may well be the Mobo I’ll try a fresh install tonight and i can only hope it sorts it out I cba sending the motherboard back or id prefer not to but if its broke its broke.

but am willing to try anything else any one can suggest

Thanks again peeps
