Hello Dear OC3D I Need You're help with my newbuild computer.

I Did Buy all parts new from a internet store !

CPU : E8400

GPU : XFX 9800GT

Memory : 4GB Corsair 6400

Motherboard : Asus P5N32-E SLI

HDD : WD BLUE 640GB

PSU : Corsair 450W

This is my first build so i missed the ATX 12V And i didn't put any CPU because i didn't have any!

The Computer Booted and i did heard a sound ( TAH ) I did turn off the computer quick.

Started the computer again and did turn it off ( To check if it still works )

Next day i got my CPU i did put it in check everything and this time i did put the 12V And 24PIN to my motherboard.

WHAT I TRIED

My PSU Works ( Tried it )

Changed Memory

Tried To build everything over again

Reset CMOS

Tried Without CPU

My problem is that the computer wont turn on it doesn't make any beep sound / no noise , it doesn't start!

Now i need you're tip what i should do!

Is the motherboard broken?

Is there anything i can do ? or fix it?

You booted it without a CPU, what a stupid thing to do!

Well, have you got the 8Pin Motherboard connector in?

Yea really stupid :(

Yes ofc they are in 2X 4 pin ( Maybe that's the problem ? )

You should use a 8 Pin EPS Motherboard connector (it isn't 2 x 4 Pin, just a whole 8 Pin), but you can use a 4 Pin older P4 motherboard connector aswell (plug into the left hand side of the connector as you look at it).

Edit: Like this:

The corsair VX450 does have an 8pin EPS connector, that splits in to two 4 pin connectors, did you only plug one of these in, without a cpu? It might be booting it without a cpu that caused the damage, although it could be lack of power from the EPS connector. I am curious as to what 4 pin cable you used though?

Plugged both in ofc

x2 4pin ATX is esentially the same as the EPS, both give 4 12v, and 4 ground, so should live.

Regarding no CPUs, I use no CPUs when I error check, its a valid tactic!

PSU might have popped if it was cheep nasty crap. Other sources of noise, nVidia GPUs howl when they don't get there power, sure the 6pin PCI-e connector is in correctly?

Just check and recheck your connections on all components, if need be take it apart, do it again SLOWLY :D And keep us updated

PCs are fine without ATX12v. I say fine, they do nothing but they will live

Yeah they are in and pci express 6pin is in too ;/

Psu works fine

i need to sleep , got school ill take a picture and keep you updated

Thanks for the help & cu tomorrow !

Not really interested in the money mate.

Did you touch the power button connector? Recheck if it's in place correctly.

Have you tested the psu with another computer?
