New build - Advice needed.

Well they cost, they're made of aluminium but, other than quality and pleasant perception, they can produce unwanted sound, vibrations with some components (in particular HDD, even with dampening parts)
So, for me, it's better robust steel (at least for the main structure),
than the less plastic the better

Hmm ok. Thank you.

Everything is looking like it's set really except some more fans for the case.

I'd like to thank everyone for their help so far, it's appreciated.

Build at the moment is looking like this:

MSI Z77 MPower
i7 3770k
GTX 670
Corsair 16GB 1866MHz
Corsair AX750
Seagate 2TB BARRACUDA
Kingston 120GB SSD
Fractal Design Arc Midi
NH-D14

Any tweaks you guys reckon?

I know I mentioned this before, but since this is a gaming rig you really don't need a 3770k. The i5 3570k performs almost exactly the same in games. It's your rig though, so choose what suits your fancy:D. Oh, and if you're going for the NH-D14, make sure you go with low profile ram.

Other than that, it looks like a fantastic build. Can't wait for the finished product!

to be fair even though mine seems to have been born in the firey pits of the underworld its a freaking trooper. i run hitman maxed at 2560x1440 witout a single stutter. also @feronix whats your oc settings because mine hits 81-83 on ac3. not that i can copy but just to see in relation to mine what you are hitting. cheers bud

Forgot to mention mate, I'm on stock speeds :p But it runs whatever I throw at it just fine, Battlefield 3 on Ultra at like... 70-80 fps which is more than enough as I have a 60Hz monitor. I don't really have any games that are more demanding though I might buy Far Cry 3. By the time I have that game I might've already upgraded to SLI though

EDIT; I'm not a big fan of Seagate drives tbh, not sure if the drives they make are still as low quality as they used to be but you could look up some reviews. I'd personally rather go with a WD or Samsung 1TB drive than a Seagate 2TB, just saying :)

Hi there. Sorry I did read your reply but forgot to respond. I understand the i5 is probably going to do the job but my current computer does the job most of the time. This is purely to just get myself with current times and have some fun! :) The i7 also adds some more performance for down the line.

Low profile RAM is something I've been considering also due to the D14. :)

EDIT: Seagate drive is debatable. I'll most probably go for something else, it was just the first 2TB I saw and I added. Just need it for storage of media.

the vengeance stuff is dead on. it would be my first chive. there is kingston hyperx or gskill ares aswell. not sure about muskin stuff. but the vengeance stuff i have used i think it looks grand and the price is v.good

and corsairs warranty is really good

Yeah I have been looking at the G.SKILL Ripjaws X as they are cheaper and low profile.

Only problem is, they look awful. Haha.

Nice specs you put together.
I'd just like to recommend the Gigabyte GTX 670.
It's very quiet, and doesn't go over 59 degrees Celsius (not overclocked).
They did pretty good job with those fans.

Thanks for your advice shaykal. I'll take it into consideration. :)

I am debating on fans now, god damn colour schemes. Why is the NH-D14 fans so weird? Haha.

They may be a little out of the ordinary, but computer enthusiasts all of the interwebs shall know that you've spent a fair bit of money getting one of the best coolers around. Because of that, the harsh colour clashes are almost excused.

This guys knows what he's talking about. I think they look like crap but I have 12 nff12s in my switch. I fitted one to a former friends rig and the towers are sweet looking but the fans are guff but you know what. The thing works so well it could have faeces engraved onto the top and no one would care

It's not that they look like crap, I actually like the colours but it's that it doesn't exactly go with any of the case.

I could replace the fans so it all matches or get Noctua's throughout the whole case.

Been looking into the 650D instead of the Arc Midi. Opinions on this case?

The 650D is a nice case with some great features. The integrated fan controller would be handy for any enthusiast. Easy access for cpu backplate and dual 120mm or 140mm fans in the roof would make watercooling a snap.

It seems a lot like the C70 only better. Looks like an uber-l33t case to me. Pretty good price, too, compared to similar but more expensive cases.

Looks good to me, as far as cases go, corsair 500r (amazing airflow and looks great) Corsair 600t if you can spare the extra cash. Fractal design R4 is also great (sleek lines and very quiet). I would swap out the CPU cooler for a Noctua NH-D14 (if you can fit in the case you choose) or possibly a corsair h100i
hope this helps,
