New Build Advice Needed

I'm looking to build a new tower to replace my current one which is going to my parents.

I'm looking to spend somewhere around the £900 mark for a i5 3570k build but could go a bit higher if doing a 3770k build seems worth it.

Optical: cheapest DVD/CD burner that works

Is what i currently have as my build, cpu fan i will get at a later date (when i can afford a silent fan like a noctua or similar).
I also will need the option to sli/crossfire later.
Main uses are Gaming, Movies, small amount of video streaming and video editing.
Main advice I need is about the case, current tower is an antec 300. All other bit of advice are appreciated as well.

Change the Motherboard to an MSI GD65, change the SSD to a Samsung 830/840 or a Crucial M4, and change the power supply to a Corsair AX650

My mentality used to be the cheapest DVD burner - then I realised I didn't even need that so didn't even bother with that one at all.

Depending on how much video editing you're doing, the 3770k may be beneficial, if you're only doing a little, save the money.

Go for a 7950 as they aren't that much more expensive anymore and offer a fair bit in performance gain.

What advice do you need about the case?

I keep the optical drive as I have hundreds of cds, and burn a lot (where i work has no radio signal and I dont want to risk my actual albums at work)

Case I am looking at not spending too much more than the Phantom but main things i need are good/decent airflow, reasonably quiet and decent space. I think the fan controller is a really nice feature that I would take advantage of.

Would you suggest a 7950 or an msi GTX 670 power edition? (the 2 free games with the 670 are ones ill be buying anyway so it makes the difference in price)

The video editing i will do is minor to start but I might be doing some streaming of gaming to twitch.tv later so the 3770k is a real consideration.

Is the vertex 4 really worse than the 830 or M4 (roughly same cost)?

I love my 670, so I'd probably recommend that. If you see a good deal on a 7950 though - like on Aria recently they've had some at £199.99, but that's gone back up again now. Just look around for offers, there's always something on somewhere.
As for the 670 - the best 3 are the KFA2, ASUS DCII and Gigabyte Windforce - not that the MSI is bad, if it's considerably cheaper, go for that, otherwise the other 3 are a better choice.

Fan controllers often add noise depending on what fans you're using. I'd recommend using voltage resistors instead, and setting fans up quietly to begin with.

The Vertex 4 is worse - never buy OCZ. They're incredibly unreliable, whilst Samsung and Crucial are the two most reliable SSD manufacturers out there.

I've been looking through some of the other threads and saw this ram suggested and I have no prior knowledge of TeamGroup ram so I am not sure on how they stand up to corsair vengeance.

Ive had crucial vengeance and g.skill ripjaw before.

Thanks for the advice on the SSD, i think ill go for the 840 120 GB for £80 at the moment, which helps that im an amazon prime user too.

As for the case do you have any recomendations?

I would use a 450W beQuiet Power supply, that's more than enough for your rig and should be quiet. 830 is my recommend SSD. On the grafics side I personally prefer Nvidia, but the 7870 should do a good job

Cant use 450w as i will be going with sli or crossfire later.

Just searched for the corsair ax650 power supply and nowhere even lists it now .

It's there - I own one too. If not I would try to get a one of BeQuiet, they are really silent. 650W are enough for sli / crossfire. I would take the GTX 670 FTW then, it's the cheapest 680 you can get

I just went through all of corsair suppliers, found the 650tx and ax750+ but they seem to have the ax650 missing. I will phone round scan, overclockers, etc. to see whats up with that lol.

The AX650's been out of stock for all the retailers for a while now. It's possible that it's being discontinued, with the AX750 taking over as the low-end AX unit.
