New AV setup....nearly there...

Another quick update.

There was something I felt was missing from the sound of the Denon AVR-1909, especially as I am listening to music more and more. I also wanted full 5.2 pre-outs for future-proofing and possible power-amp additions in the future :)

That in mind, I sold the Denon and grabbed a Yamaha DSP-AX863 and spangly it is too. What HiFi Awarded it 5 stars, Product of the Year and Best multichannel amplifier/receiver £500-£1000 so it couldn't fail to be good ;)

Oh, and did I mention it's black too :p

A Logitech Harmony One and spangly it is indeed!

Grabbed a couple of Tacima CS929 6 way mains conditioners too. Anything that improves the sound for £30 a pop is a flipping steal in my opinion!
 
Seem to come across alot of the Denon gear whilst safety testing studios.

Any reason for not going for something like RX V1800 ?

(loving the look of the Logitech Harmony One btw)
 
Yeah Denon stuff is nice but I felt that the AVR-1909 was a little too low end for what I wanted, the Yammy is a very nice upgrade in SQ, especially for music.

The RXV1800 is over £200 more than the DSP-AX863, mine cost £525!

The Harmony One is an incredible bit of kit, I honestly cannot recommend it more. I have 2; one for the lounge and one for the AV Room.

@Bungral: didn't touch links at all? Assume you had a glitch at your end? :p
 
Got one from Play for £70 and one from Amazon for £63 on offer. The Harmony One is superb as I have said above. The activity way of controlling devices is so convenient and easy to use and the database has a HUGE amount of stuff in it: all my AV equipment is in there and controlled perfectly on the remote.
 
Thinking Logitech, thinking computers, I'm guessing u 'could' add ur pc to the list of things controllable with it ? (which an ir receiver or something obviously)
 
Could do if you had an IR adaptor, which I'm looking at at the moment. Need one that control iTunes so it needs 1/2 decent software which is an issue with IR dongles.

Very strange, tried it twice, came back and it worked... Third time lucky I guess *shrugs*

Yep, but wouldn't it be nice to have one remote that does it all? I mean the One does control every single other thing in the room :)

Thats an awesome setup and only guessing you have older stuff you upgraded from :P
 
Very tidy kit and install. I particularly like that I have one piece of kit you have.. the Ikea chest of drawers! :worship:
 
Not got those drawers in the AV room any more mate, they're in the bedroom :)

See posts 39 and 28 for my kit.

Might redo this thread in a new order actually, but not right now....
 
That is some seriously good kit you have there! im looking at going the same way but instead of the speaker set up being so expensive im going for headphones as i have to share a bedroom partially(MDF wall), so the speakers would get little use so im using lower end kit there and high end headphones.

Seeing as you've obviously been around AV equipment a bit what would you reccomend as a sub £500 AV amp?
