Yeah was prolly about a year ago now. I dont even think they lasted a month...more like a week. I hated them with serious passion - and I think everyone else did too.
Can we petition Be quiet to change their ads? Its quite annoying after the 20000th view. On the other hand if we get really bored, we could use facebook, don't think I will ever stop laughing at the "do you need a girlfriend/do you want to lose a load of cash to some scammers/get free stuff by selling you soul/email address... you get the point"
...and so if we stop allowing advertising on OC3D, you guys will be happy with very little hardware reviews and/or cutting edge gear? Unfortunately it's a 'you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours mentality'. Without the additional income from manufacturer advertising OC3D would be on struggle street and we've worked too hard to have that happen. I personally think the banner ads are great and are way less of a hassle than the text based one we tried a while back.
I agree mate, the banner ads are definitely the least obtrusive. I also agree that ads are a necessary evil and OC3D is hardly the first tech website to use them and definitely nowhere near the worst in terms of placement etc.
Definitely the best solution, and in some cases acutally relevant, unlike those unintellitext ads...this costs x amount, ads about personal finance pop up...gah
i've noticed a little problem (other sites too) that when you click on an attached pic and it opens up, the flash adverts are still on top of it? Is there any way around this?
I agree. The ads are relevant and not too flashy, which is more than most sites can say. I also noticed that the ads are only about items which were reviewed or featured in a news item?
By the way: do you (also) get paid per click? I'd love to contribute a bit to OC3D by clicking a few ads every day.
EDIT: yes I noticed that too Nathan :/ Quite annoying with certain resolutions when the ads go over the closing X.

Yah generally most advertisers like to do a 'double whammy'. Combine a review of a product with some banners too. It only tends to work if we think the product is good tho....trying to flog the dead horse doesn't work

Yeah thats a pain in the bum. Its actually flash being naughty and hogging the screen. You can get round it tho - when you want to close the picture just double click anywhere on the screen.
