Recently re-installed XP on my PC but no longer have the settings for my MSHOME workgroup.

Is it possible to export these settings from a PC already on the Network to my PC?

Thanks in advance.

What`s the existing network consist of m8 ? i.e other pcs, hubs/switches.

Usually u can just goto System->Computername and add it back to MSHOME as a workgroup.

Sorry; bit of a newbie.

It's a workgroup of all the PC's in my home sharing printers & files etc. I used to have a network setup apps (created when I initially set up the network) which I used to run on each PC. Have lost this so want to add this PC.

Do as Ratalovich says, check the workgroup name is the same as on the other PCs but also make sure the computer name is unique on your network. You'll probably have to restart at this point.

NB - XP defaults to 'WORKGROUP' here but 'MSHOME' in the Network wizard!

Then, connect to the internet and leave it open.

Run the network wizard on the 'new' PC only ensuring the workgroup is the same on all PCs (you indicate it's going to be MSHOME). There should be no need to run the wizard on the other PCs or use a setup disk. Just refresh 'my network places' and all should be fine.

If it's not, check your router hasn't blocked the new pc.
