Needing Help On Picking Parts

Ok, so as the title says I need some help choosing parts for my next upgrade.

Intel Core i7-3770K
ASRock Z77 Extreme4
Corsair Vengeance 8GB

I have that so far, I will be keeping my current HDD (Samsung F3 1TB & Western Digital 500GB), GPU (GTX 570) and PSU (Antec TruePower 650w).

I use my PC mostly for gaming and browsing the internet. I would also like to get a new case but I have no idea what to choose, I would like something with a windowed side panel preferably Mid tower but I wouldn't mind a Full tower. I can also buy another GTX570 later on if I need to give it a boost in some games.

Is the components I have picked Ok or would you change them in anyway ?

Thanks, Dario.

If your PC is mainly for gaming you dont need the 3770K, the 3570K will perform just as well, so save some money there. The mobo is really good for the money, I built a rig for my bro using one a few months ago and it has been doing great. Ram is fine. Although the ram you have will probably perform identically.

Definitely add a SSD for your boot drive, it will make the whole system so much more responsive. A crucial M4 or samsung drive is what I would recommend.

So if I change the CPU to the Intel Core i5-3570K and I get the SSD I will be fine ? Also, what size of SSD ?

Absolutely go for the i5, the i7 is no better for gaming. Also, get a 128 gb Crucial M4 or Samsung 830 just for boot/ applications you use often. I'd suggest a MSI Z77A-G45 as opposed to ASRock. MSI is the way to go for Z77, and it's cheaper on most websites. I would suggest switching the PSU but for now yours is perfectly adequate.

I wont need to change my PSU untill i get another GTX 570 or unless i go for one of the newer generation cards, even in SLI they will pull less power than the SLI'd 570's. (I'm talking about the 670's just to be clear lol)

Hugely personal things. There's many a case review on Tom's channel, so that'll be a good place to look, I guess.

All the Corsair cases are good bets, Coolermaster have some good ones (Trooper, Stryker), Fractal make some nice cases if you're looking for a more conservative build, Bitfenix, also.

Select some cases you like, and show us the list. We'll help cut the choices down :)

If it was me picking out of those it would be the Shinobi just for the clean look and good features (review). The 300R is a good budget case but if you have the money get a better one. It also has the ugly fan mounts in the window.

You also want to consider an NZXT Swith 810, its very big though, wouldnt recommend it if you want to do air cooling, only if you need the space for watercooling its good.

Eventually its also personal taste. What I like may differ from what you like.

I like all of those cases and I have seen the Mid tower Shinobi... I have a mid tower atm and I think it is sufficient but I also want a change and something with a little more room. My case doesn't have a side window just now but my last case did and I miss looking into it and seeing the lighting glow. Its either gonna be the Corsair 600T in white with a window or the Shinobi in White :D
