Need some help upgrading my computer

My computer is starting to move slow, enough to make me frustrated with it. I sort of have an idea of what to upgrade but I'm not sure about my choice. All help is appreciated.

My current computer specs:
Asus Sabertooth 990FX AM3+
AMD Phenom II X6 1035T
Mushkin Blackline 1600MHz 2x4gb
Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHz
Antec Earthwatts 650W
2x1tb Seagate HDD

I already know that I need to upgrade my CPU, I would like to go Intel but that means I have to buy a whole new motherboard and a new CPU which I don't have the money for. I thought to hold me over until I have money for both I would get a AMD FX-8350 better than what I currently have but not good enough for what I want. Now at this point I'm wondering if a CPU upgrade is all I need or do I have to upgrade more. If I do need to upgrade more than I'm thinking an SSD would be a the next upgrade but I'm not sure if it's needed (which is why I'm here). I do want to add more RAM into my computer from 8gb to 16gb but more RAM shouldn't be my problem currently. As you can see my mind is all over the place and I don't know where to start my upgrade so I need some help.

Put an ssd in first as that will give you a nice boost in performance whilst saving up for a new cpu and board at a later date

If it is starting to move slow then it might be time to start cleaning up your registry and deleting old files.

Do you have an SSD to recommend? I'm leaning towards Corsair Neutron or Corsair Force but I'm not quite sure which to get.

What program do you recommend?

You could use Disk Cleaner but into Windows as well, clear any temporary files/dumps.

Start - All Programs - Accessories - System - Disk Cleanup.

For Windows 8 just search it.

CCleaner, defrag, disk cleaner.

Buy a 60gb SSD and use your HDD as storage. Even a cheaper "slow" SSD will be a HUGE performance increase, that is if the problems lies within the HDD. If this fixes the issue then make do with that and save for an i3 and motherboard :)

the samsung ssds are very good. an ssd will speed up your system.

have you ever tried overclocking your 1035t?

I'd recommend throwing an SSD into the mix, much like others have recommended. Sticking your operating system, a few key programs and drivers on a small 64gb SSD (maybe even have enough room for a game if you're lucky), will improve performance significantly. At least with loading times, and in some games having it on an SSD actually prevents stuttering in-game.

I have tried overclocking my 1035t but I de-overclocked it (is that the right word?) I should overclock it again tho.

I'm going to get a 120gb SSD, I have an HDD that's only dedicated for my OS, it's using close to 120gb I may go to 240gb because it's so close to 120gb.
