hey guys

I bought & built my new pc last night.

Everything seemed fine but there's a problem here.

If I put 4 x 1GB RAMs into the slots and turn the pc on, nothing is shown on the monitor but it keeps restarting itself whereas, however, 2 X 1GB worked.

spec for the pc is:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-X38-DS4

MEMORY: 4 x 1GB Corsair DDR2 Twin2X CM2X1024-6400C4, 4-4-4-12, 800MHz

VGA: GIGABYTE GeForce 8800GTS 512MB

HDD: Western Digital SATA2 500GB

ODD: Pioneer DVD Multi DVR-215BK

Power: Corsair VX450W

I reckon it might be caused from a power shortage or my faulty installation.

your help will be very much appreciated!

many thanks!

You are probably cutting it quite close with a 450watt PSU.

What operating system are you going to be using?

Good good, just making sure..

You could try clearing the CMOS just before you boot with the 4GB.

Otherwise I would say you should get at least 500watt PSU to run you gear. :)

did not amend anything from the manufactured spec. lol

That dosn;t mean the motherboard has decided to go against the SPD.

Enter teh bios and set them to 5-5-5-15 2T 2.0v @ 667mhz for debugging purposes.
