Hi I hope iv posted this in the Right Place to start with. :/

I NEED HELP

I am going to be doing my first full Water Cooling System
and need help with what block i need for my gpu ?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-Gr...UTF8&qid=1371206064&sr=8-1&keywords=7950+flex

I am looking for a full cover Block for this and am not sure if i can have one on this card any help at all would be grate..

btw i will be useing a XSPC RayStorm D5 EX240 WaterCooling Kit
to start me off and then adding things as i become more experienced.

Also i think this would be the max size rad i would be able to get inside this case as iv measured up how much room i have inside my case and would not fit anything bigger.. then 240mm on the top.. with a few mods.

I will be adding 1 or 2 extra 120mm rads to help with gpu cooling at a later date but would re like sum advice..

Main advice would be for GPU Blocks really

Thanks in advance :)

Will the

Alphacool NexXxoS ATXP ATI 7970/50 Series V2
Fit my Gpu ???

Please don't double post, it seems you didn't read the forums rules. Go have a read please ;)

Try here http://www.coolingconfigurator.com/

But a few weeks ago I was looking at that card and they didn't do a full cover block, If I wanted that card I would of had to of got a universal block.

After having a look no full cover block will fit mate, I thought that the Alphacool Nexxxos V1 might have been a match but no luck there either mate.

That block fit my Sapphire card, but I'm not sure if we have the exact same model.

EDIT: post the serial number of your card and I'll compare it with mine and let you know.

Hmmm, I'm not sure man. My SKU number is *slightly* different. The "item number" in your Amazon link is 11196-17-40G. My SKU # is 11196-01-40G. Your box is a bit different too. Neither one of our SKUs are listed on the compatibility chart for that block, but mine fit without issues. I'm 98% sure it would fit yours, but I'd hate to see you waste the money on a gamble like that. I'm betting the only difference in those SKU numbers is the stuff that came bundled with the card. Pretty sure our hardware is identical, but I can't say for sure.

The compatibility chart is here: http://www.alphacool.com/download/compatibility list ATI.pdf

Not sure what to tell you. I know I had a BITCH of a time tracking down a block for that card, and learned the hard way that once you go underwater, you buy your GPU with the block in mind, not the other way around. :)

I think It might fit Also... But I know what you are saying.. if it don't fit then iv just wasted £80 on a block of metal lol.

I am now not sure what 2 do :/

I'm not really keen on a universal block But do I risk it and take a chance.. Alphacool NexXxos ATXP Rev 2

Are universal blocks Any good ??

And if they are witch one would anyone suggest the best for my card ? I want overall performance not to fused long as it cools my card well.

Anyone's help be grate..

But thanks for you input.. Bartacus

I'd recommend removing the stock HSF first. You'll have to do this eventually anyways, so you might as well get your feet wet sooner rather than later. Strip the HSF (which isn't difficult at all BTW), and compare your card to mine. Here's a pic of mine when I stripped it:

Take note of the screw holes on the card, as well as the Alphacool block. You should be able to tell pretty quickly if it will fit. Here's a shot of the block just after install:

Worst case: you put your stock HSF back together but with better thermal paste than stock (which I assume you have somewhere). If not, get yourself a tube of Arctic Cooling MX-4. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your help Bartacus.

I will do that And compare to your pcb :)

I'm sure my cards pcb Will look the same and hope I can get the Alphacool block 4 my card,,

Do you have any recommendations for universal blocks if mine is different ??
Hope its not but just in case..

No idea about universal blocks. I'm a water noob too, and I didn't want to go universal, as I wanted active VRM cooling. If you were up for returning the card, I'd try to find a different 7950. My second one was a much better choice, and opened up my block options, so I went with a HeatKiller block. SO much nicer than the Alphacool one, and with a full proper backplate to boot. Of course, it also costs a lot more, so I wouldn't recommend going that way if money is a factor. And it usually is with most people, myself included. :)

Ok iv Finally taken off my Stock Cooler and replaced the Thermal paste with some mx4.. Got much better temps 4 time being :)

Now Have a picture of my pcb If you can let me know if the Alphacool v2 will fit plz :)

Hmmm, I don't think the V2 block will fit. :( Look at the upper left part, where those transistor thingies are, and look at this pic of my block:

You have an extra doohickey there, right below the CrossFire connections that would interfere with the block. So I can't see the V2 block fitting. :(
