Hi guys, I am new on this forum and I have a question, I am currently running an XFX AMD R9 290 DD on a Corsair RM450, and i know its pushing its limits, so its there a risk? I want so sell my graphic card or my PSU to get a GTX960 or a better PSU it depends what sells first.

I have read on differente websites and say thats to risky so idk what to do.

Intel Core i5-3450 not overclocked
ASUS H61M-E Motherboard
CMSTORM Enforcer with 2 fans (one is 120mm another 220mm)
XFX AMD RADEON R9 290 DD stock clocks
Wireless D Link DWA-123 USB
Logitech Keyboard K120
Logitech Mouse G402
1 TB Barracuda Seagate 7200 rpm
500 GB HD Seagate 5400 rpm

Is it sufficient wattage?

Sorry for my English is not my first language.

Thanks for the responds so early!, the thing is that its a AMD R9 290 not 290x because i wouldnt be that confident to power up with that card connected!, I have game on this psu like more than 5 months and it was okay, but knowing that can explode and take all my components scares the crap out of me!, the PSU fan is currently running when gaming on CSGO, so I think i could be a little less worried until I get another PSU or less hungry card, thanks guys!

It would be better getting a new psu rather than downgrading to a 960. Don't worry though if your PSU dies it probably won't take the whole system with it. There are a lot of safety features that prevent that in the RM series of corsair psus

thanks for the respond! so now I know what to do then! (How can i close this thread or tell that is already answered?)

Nah, no need to close it.

I must say in Tom's demonstration video he used a 780 Ti which does sip a little less power than a 290, and it still pulls 430 Watts. Now I doubt you're ever going to be running both CPU and GPU at a 100% at the same times, but I'd pick up a nice RM 550 for the peace of mind, it's not that much more expensive :)

Or get a 650 Watt and enjoy the silence of the fan never really spinning!

Yeah! yesterday I was so worried about I didnt wanted to even turn on my pc! So gonna see when I am gonna buy it because I am a little tight on the budget right now, and the peace of mind its the most important factor right now! thanks guys again.
