so can i run the AMD R9 290X with my desktop specs or do i need a 700watts psu
from MaD_Animal :)

thank you for that i will go and get one very soon :)

600 watt is fine but your going to need a far better quality unit for a 290x. I'd say something at least with a gold rating. No point in spending a lot of money in a very high end card with a 80+ psu. It'll run loud and more apt to fail sooner. Now for your current 7790 it's fine but should be upgraded to a better unit. Also think ahead. If you plan on Xfire at any point with the 290x then you should get a more powerful unit now instead of later.

Your rig will be using about 350-400w with the 290x, so a 600w psu is fine

It will actually be pulling around 500W Id have guessed - thats pretty close to the limit for a CX - Id run it and see how you get on tbh, you might find its a bit too noisey for you

If you run into problems you then know its PSU time
