Hey Guys,

i need your help again. I am searching for a new Monitor for my Gaming needs. I got a benq xl2420z but i really want to upgrade to 1440p and 27". I also really dont want to spent more than 600€. My 2 Choices right no are the xl2730z with the TN-Panel or a Acer Predator XB1 (XB271HU) with the IPS Panel. I know everyone is about the PG279Q but i really dont want to spent that much to be honest.

But if you'll tell me now both screens are and i should go for the pg279q because it is worth its money, i should probably reconsider.

If it were me I'd go the little bit extra for the PG279Q if you can I own the first of the swifts and it's an awesome panel but that one has IPS and 165Hz so i know what I'd be doing if it were me

As an owner i'd like to add something to the PG279Q.

It's an awesome experience to play at 165Hz and to have the luxury of GSynch. The monitor stand is just beyond wow in build quality and the onscreen menu is very, very nice to navigate.

Now the bad: This is an expensive monitor and a lot of people have complained that there are just to many problem out there to jusify the price.

Some people got a flawless unit the first time, i had to do two exchanges at the dealership to get one that good. Not flawless but good.

The first i got had: backlightbleed top left and bottom right corner at 30% visible(a lot), the stand LED didn't work and i noticed random flickering during gaming.

The second i got: backlightbleed top left and bottom right corner at 30% visible (much worse than the first unit), the beezel was loose on two corners and would directly affect the panel when touched, causing pressure marks and light switches.

I have pictures of the first unit to prove the BLB:

My third unit which i'm using now isn't perfect aither. Some BLB in the corners but nothing i can notice during regular gaming. It's vissible on black scenes but that's it.

The first two where November 2015 charge. This one is January 2016. The problem seems to lie withing the panel itself, made by AU optronics. I believe Acer uses the same panels on their 144/165Hz IPS monitors.

It's a good monitor, if you get a good unit. If you're willing to take that risk, wou will get a very good experience out of it. I still have that salty taste in my mouth and i somehow feel like this monitor of mine is tinted with its failed breathren. :o

only your experience or anyone else with problems like that? Now im confused

I got a PG279q recently. It didnt have any stuck pixels and ips glow was fairly minimal to be honest. I did have a problem where the screen couldnt handle the pixel clock rate >120hz when Gsync was enabled which caused pixel inversion (the center part of the screen getting cut out and put on the right or left) I contacted Asus and they know there is a problem but offered very little help. I found people complaining of numerous defects such as stuck pixels/dust stuck under the coating/ pixel inversion which suggest quality control isnt alway great. If you find a good one you will be on to a winner if not it may take a few screens to find a good one.
