Ok, so i have 2 laptops i can choose from:
Asus A550JK:
Intel i7-4710hq
8GB RAM
GTX850m

vs

MSI GX60-1AC
A10-4600m
8GB RAM
HD7970m

I am unsure which one to pick, so could you kind guys please help me choose? Please when you pick one, state why also, im quite confused of which one to pick. Thanks in Advance all!!

7970m is better than the 850m, i7 (quad core) is better than the A10 (dual core). For gaming I would go with the MSI, just for the GPU performance increase. Personally i would go for the Asus just for the CPU performance (over twice the performance in comparison to the A10).

If your not looking to be playing more recent AAA titles (I wouldn't play them on a laptop anyway) and are happy to play on lower setting on older games, go with the ASUS.

Have a look for an i5 based laptop with decent GPU if the gaming side is a major consideration.

I'd go for the ASUS as it has newer hardware inside.

An i7 will be better fro productivity than the AMD laptop, but the AMD laptop has a stronger GPU. The CPU is what usually determines the laptops lifespan for me so I'd go for the i7 over the stronger GPU, though I'm not sure how much stronger it is.

An important point to consider is what are the resolutions on these as well? An 850m at 768p will perform more than adequate for most game. At 1080p you'll have to go with lower settings than the 7970m, but I'd still personally get the Asus.

those differences have me thorn in middle. Btw ever since i tryed and played at 1080p, im kinda unsatisfied at lower res :/
Battery life isnt any major point also, since il game on charger and turn iGPU on both laptops while im on college during lecture(one lecture is about max 2h 30min long)
Asus is 50 euros more. Asus also has less cooling potential while MSI should run cooler as it looks a bit like AW or ROG, has massive heatsinks, allthough its AMD, and overheating isnt so far away.
Both laptops are used btw, Asus has 1year more warranty, im unsure about MSI i asked the seller last night so im expecting an answer at monday at latest. DX12 has me thinking also. I wish few more people would express their opinion so i can pick :(

I would go with the Asus really, a good i7 and a year warranty are pretty good, My msi has a 850m in it and it runs games really well on 1080p as long as i keep some things on low, it does run gta 5 really smooth though, but then again that game has been properly optimized.

As far as DX12 goes, id rather have a slightly weaker gpu and a strong cpu that will benefit more from dx12 then that amd gpu would with a dual core behind it.

I have the bigger brother of the GX60, the GX70 (mostly the same platform, apart from display and sound) and I can tell you that the processor (mine has an A10 5750) is utter crap. Any sort of load apart from the usual browsing/music/movies will be a bit of a pain to say the least. However, if gaming is what you're looking for, the m290x is quite a capable GPU (just a rebranding of the 8970, which is a rebranding of the 7970). Also, the SSD is decent, Windows 10 loads and is ready to use within 20 seconds.

An SSD can always be added later. From what I get from alxcsb's post is that you're better off with the Asus.

Yeah, I've had the GX70 for a year now, and I always feel that lack of CPU grunt, but for my purposes, I don't regret buying it, does the job just fine. But yes, if the OP needs more CPU power rather than GPU, this is not the laptop he wants.

Let me write games il play then :D
Cs:go, Dota 2, shadow of mordor, few MMO's, now for maybe games:
The crew, GTA V, Elite Dangerous n some more. The games are maybe as i dont have them on steam xD
Btw did anyone have experience with warranty with Asus? If anything dies will they be dodgy cuz id buy it in another country?

I had that experience with Asus warranty on my 990FX Sabertooth they said it wasnt bought in the UK luckily I bought it through Amazon so they refunded me :)

Asus warranties have been good for me when i needed them, ofcourse every company has issues with warranties here and there, but if you keep calm and clear about a problem you have they work out just fine. Some of those games really do benefit from that cpu, most mmo's also favor cpu over gpu so you should be fine there.
