Need help deciding

Ok.. what i have so far.

Basically, mainly playing COD4 at 1920x1200 res.

Running on an 8800GT.. and have been considering an upgrade for a while.

But cant decide what to.. or even if i should upgrade yet.

I have the money to get a 295, but feel it would be a total waste.

So I want what would be best value for money and a card that wouldnt be wasted on only 1920x1200 res.

I've been mulling over basically all the cards available, both ATi and Nvidia, but still think different things every day.

So some of your thoughts would be great!

Thanks

Nothing wrong with gtx295 at that res I run the same...you could buy an xfx 4870x2 almost as powerful but only £333 @ OCUK

Unless of course you only play cod4 and never will play any other games then I would understand

you could go down the gtx 280 route but for the money the xfx 4870x2 is alot of card!!! this would be my choice, and your garunteed for the future,

I beleive they will also have DX11 Support (gtx 295 definatley does...so I have heard)

I so wanted to get a 295, but I resent paying so much money for essentially a gpu that technologically hasn't changed that much since the 8800. Just ramping up the speeds is no substitution for real innovation. AMD shocked everyone with their 48xx lineup, Intel did it with the Core 2 Duo, I'm hoping nVidia next product will be truly game changing.

I'd say the 4870x2. It's great in benches. I have one 4870 now and i play everything on fullish at 1920x1080. So the x2 must be able to handle it. You can get £327 b-grade ones too.

thread from the grave :p

In the end i got a XFX 4870 1GB off OCUK for £165, its all good, great card.

Then if im in need of any more power, i can just go Crossfire later on!

Wow, this is from the grave... haha. Well played Kojak71, lol

I might go Crossfire on my 4870, but i need to see temps with just one. I'll need a new PSU aswell :(
