Nearly Sold my Pc...

Hey all,

I dont know if any of you have noticed but I havent been very upto date with the computer scene at the moment, I mean my computer isnt even overclocked anymore and PC gaming is getting rather deprived since I bought my 360.

I was getting to the stage of thinking why bother having all this money sitting in a PC which is getting used to browse the net and communicate with people, then my Microsoft Office 2007 became corrupt and that was nearly it for me.

But I left it for a few weeks and have had a change of heart today, manually uninstalled Office (uninstaller was corrupt) meaning I had to remove everything and delete all registy entrys, it was a pain to say the least!

I am now defragging all my hard drives and I am going to install Steam later and get back playing Pc games like I used to.

I am also going to overclock everything again to how it used to be (I didnt bother trying when I upgraded to 4gb) but I will make sure I am atleast back to 3ghz later :)

Just thought I would let you all know how close I was to giving up the computing scene but couldnt bring myself to do it!

/serious discussion over...

Sam :D

Yeah I think most of us here have been through that stage. I left the overclocking scene for about a year after killing a £600 Pentium3 chip. When I came back, so much had changed that I didn't even know what type of cooler I needed for my new PC!

In the 3 years of OC3D Frag has probably gone away and come back abut 3 times, Dave gave up overclocking after weird problems with his rig, and so many more people that I cant even begin to remember.

But once an overclocker; always an overclocker. You can only fight back the urges for so long :p

Glad u didn't bail out all together :)

aye, im running all at stock now, and know sweet FA about the tech scene at the moment, but i stil love oc3d, and thats what really matters. we are about more than overclocking :)

my rig is still fairly decent, and does everything i need it to do with ease, i see people buying new laptops and pc's atm, and my rig from last summer is still superior to them, so im not living in the past or anything.

i expect when ive got more time and money and stroll back into the scene, but atm just sticking around the forums and being part of the furniture is good enough for me :D

I'm not going to leave the scene but having the blisteringly fast hardware isn't so much of a biggie to me now. I am planning to go very quiet on my next build hopefully if I can decide how to start properley

im going for the same. i want something i can leave on all of the time but overclock too with minimal noise.

Cant wait to be working. should be fun having money to play with.

About overclocking, iv been messing about this morning and gone up another .8ghz on the old cpu. XD

I don't think I'd ever be able to give up the computer bug, I have slight downturns in interest though, usually coinciding with women. They come and go but the PC stays true :)

I'm always wanting a upgrade lol.. Lately i've been looking to upgrade my watercooling, shame I don't have any money

I usualy stop the PC gaming but always stay current with the games to test my rig to see how outdated i am. But i never have given up or even though about giving up hardware upgrades, OCing, and troubleshooting. Or seeing if i can make things better without blowing it up (Or for some excitement blowing it up anyways)
