NA255A External PCIe Gen3 to GPU Desktop Enclosure

Well personally I don't see the need - if you need that many GPUs then I'd watercool them on a 2011 board and be done with it although it might have industrial benefits.

Hi guys!!

Walking around thru the internet i found this http://www.netstor.com.tw/_03/03_02.php?MTEx what do you think about this? Is it a valid option?

Don't see the point of it yet....

But considering Thunderbolt uses a PCIE interface, if it used thunderbolt instead of a PCIE card then it could be used to convert a laptop or ultrabook, or even a tablet if it had a thunderbolt port.

Will be great in the future if that happens. Would just mean you could have portable laptops, and when you got home use them for a full on gaming machine.

Now that's an interesting idea...but only if I can build and overclock my own laptop.

Well you don't necessarily need to...

Most of the decent laptops these days are running i5s anyway which are easily sufficient for games.

I'd quite like someone to test one with a laptop though....

I'd be a little concerned of GPUs running in a box like that without proper cooling though.

True! But I mean I want to build and overclock for fun. I hope the mobile market doesn't take that away from us. We need the market to be driving the tech forwards not porting console games.

Yeah, agreed it wouldn't be great for us....
But I'm assuming desktops are still going to carry on here.

But, the main reason console gamers don't play PC is because of the cost. If these are around in the future for a reasonable price, then people should be able to add one of these, put in a £150 graphics card like a 7850 (at the current point in time) and have a gaming machine that is far better than xbox or PS3 in graphics terms, with cheaper games, all whilst being similarly priced...

More PC users can be nothing but good for the PC gaming industry

Yea - I think it's also ease of purchase and sociability. You can spec up and i3 with a 7850 for under £500 and once the upgrade cycle begins you wouldn't obviously need to spend that much again and it would be so much more powerful.

I think the biggest issue is the 1 player per pc thing. Just imagine if you have more I/Os so that 3 people could play on a PC at the same time (combined with eyefinity so 1 player per screen). Awesome.
