has anyone else got this phone? i'd take a pic of it for you and show you it, but its my primary camera, so it'd be a bit difficult tbh...

i've had it 2 days and its crashed twice and rebooted 7 times ...inkeeping with the rest of nokia's lineup i see

Must have a faulty phone then.

My cousin never had any problems with any of his N Series phones.

Tried a firmware update and such?

it came with the latest firmware

and from what i can see on vodafones website everyones having the same problem, its not just my phone, its all of them ...

or maybe its just affecting vodafone, their software on normally perfectly stable phones does seem to destableise them a little bit

they did do me a good deal on my contract though

before, i was paying 52 quid a month for 500 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet, with stop the clock

when i renewed it, they gave me it for 35 quid a month, gave me a N97mini, 600 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet, and a free 16 gig memory card, and stop the clock again, so they have done me rather proud, quite happy

Symbian is one of the most stable mobile OS there is. My 5800 has never crashed, had for around a year now.

Wonder if it it just vodaphone software?

I found the S60 to be VERY buggy on my 5800, and vodafone took forever to release updaates.

iphone ftw. :)

then i would suspect its something vodaphone are doing. As S60 is prob the most stable OS there is (just needs a decent UI).

I dont think vodaphone do the updates, nokia do. If you type *#0000#, then goto options there should be a check for updates.

You could just update it via computer so you get Nokia's latest firmware update.

No Voda**** bloatware.

Edit: OMG no censoring? *Enters custom censor*

from what brooksie is saying you cant as it requires a special vodaphone version.

the serial number of the phone, if i hacked it and changed the serial number i could update it. but that would void my warrenty :)

so updating via pc or by my phone didn't work.

dont you just love it when they do that!

Well that's what I did.

I hacked me phone, changed a specific number (not the serial code), and then updated it.

This way when the Ovi Suite tries to update it, it will read the number you have changed which tells it what phone is connected. This way it downloads and installs the firmware for the number you have put on. So essentially you could get N97 firmware on an N96 for example.

I changed the number of my N73 Standard edition to the N73 Music edition so I could get the extramusic capabilites.

hmmmm, would that work with my 5800. change it to the version that comes with music?

EDIT: scrap that idea, you need a pin code.

returning the whole lot to vodafone

they're just sending me a new one, i get a 24 month warenty with my 24 month contract anyway
