What in hell is happening?!

I thought i'd run speedfan out of curiousty and find my temps are blazing!

Room ambient temp is like ~23C

Using a loud ass zalman cpu cooler in cosmos s case.

Why?!!! Is my CPU bust or maybe mobo?! Im running a 4870x2 which is known to run at ~70+ but i just using pc for like 2 hours browing internet, no gaming!

Any1 suggest anything?

which processor are you using? If it has a 45nm or lower die then you gotta change your thermal compound and cpu cooler dude, move over the zalman, get a noctua nh-d14 for cooler temps. Also make sure u got some nice in and out airflow through your case...Just my two cents

Its an amd phenom ii 955 @ stock clock. Ive had it for 2-3 years, havnt changed thermal paste or anythign but these temps had me cringe. I am torn between corsair h60 and noctua nhd14 but plan to upgrade mobo, cooler, ram and case soon after my holidays.

edit: i dont know what "temp 3" is but i could fry an egg on that shizz.

Any1 here know what the temp readings reffer to etc? i would like to know which is NB, SB and also whatever the rest are.

*Old motherboard is old*

@B O S: yh i give my pc a blow with an air compressor in my garage every 3 or so months.

@tinytomlogan: on it boss! and yes speedfan is a nono as i just turned my hamster run system on, and it says temp 3 is 130C+!!! and there is no way a hamster can survive in those temps!

Speedfan has to have its offsets adjusted manually most of the time, its not accurate. As others have said, use HWMonitor, Core Temp or RealTemp.

Although at times anything can be buggy, HWMonitor told me that my Motherboard was at 123 degrees Celsius yesterday, and simultaneously recorded the CPU temperature as 35. Its also said my motherboard is -60deg.C, and that one of my fans was rotating and several hundred thousand rpm/

use hwmonitor speedfan is shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii yeah not good

Yup +1 XP on that. Speedfan usually gives you temps and speeds for stuff that isn't connected and the temps are miles off.

For I7 you want Realtemp. For all of your other hardware Hwmon and for your GPU Afterburner.

Speedfan is woooooefully outdated now, I mean I used to use that in 2001 lol.

Lay where you're laying, don't make a sound

I know they're Benchin', they're Benchin'

All the commotion, the kiddie like play

Has people talking, talking

You, your PC is on fire

The dark of the alley, the breaking of day

The head while I'm driving, I'm driving

Soft lips are open, cables are pale

Feels like you're dying, you're dying

You, your PC is on fire

Consumed with what's to transpire

ETC
