My p5wd2 premium is bios dead

2 weeks now I'm running on my secondary computer. While flashing from 0504 to 0304 a bad bios flash or something happened and now it appears to be bios dead. Everything boots up just fine, everything turns on, but no keyboard support to even let me blind flash.

Any suggestions?

Should I just rma and wait it out?

I'd pull the BIOS chip and just send it to Asus for replacement. That's only if you're certain it's the BIOS causing the problem and not some other unknown problem that may have caused your board to do what it's doing.

If you still have a warranty on the board then you could do that too I suppose. Would be less expensive for you to drop that BIOS chip in the mail though, probably faster to get back as well.

Score, air cooling, loud fans and a slow secondary rig are getting to my brain!

I'll check asus's tech support tommorow.

Yeah usually mobo manufacturers will do a chip-swap. I know DFI do :)

One thing mobo manufacturers should take notes on from gigabyte is dual / triple bios's. I think that's got to be one of the greatest innovations for a motherboard that we've seen.

Unfortunately gigabyte is the only maker that does this, and they don't make the best oc'ing boards :(

I agree actually. When my DFI wouldn't boot I was wiching for a spare BIOS/BIOS chip to use. Would be nice to keep a spare to flash with a solid BIOS :)

Yeah didn't even think about that. I wonder if u can buy spares from dfi directly. I'd be interested in getting my hands one one or two extras.

I sent an email to asus's RMA department. I'm hoping for a message back tommorow. I want to get back to dry ic'ing. That and I need a new psu since my secondary blew up the one it had and is occupying the powerstream.

Great they wanted $35 to REFLASH chip, $55 for a new one wiht a bios.

I just put the chip in the mail to a friend I now owe, and hes reflashing for $3.

Woot, in a week this comp will be back up and benching.
