My new rig for games design & gaming! (And maybe GW2 :>)

like the other suggested build from petrolhead it looks like the collective brain of this site all agree on the same components :D

...thats because everyone who comes here, looking for a budget gaming build for a similar kind of price, they always get recommended exactly the same components :) If they budgets big enough we say get the MSI GD65, if not, the G45 :) If it's small we say 7850, if it's big we say 670. I've counted 4 different posts today where we've recommended the 3570k and one of the combinations above. Of course nobody would ever read someone elses specific advice, even if they are pretty much identical, cause everyone wants individual responses, but it's all the same.

I personally wouldnt want to OC my graphics card if it voids any warranties, the Palit is virtualy the same price as the EVGA gtx670 and its like 100mhz stronger which is great though.

I would overclock if I was you. It doesnt really void the warranty / you can get around it, and you're never gunna go too high for it to actually break anything anyway so dont worry!
Anyway, these are all things to post about after the build! :)

Yeah, I apologize for not doing more research on certain components, I was a fool for thinking my set-up was going to be unique at all :p

I'm very happy with the components, I'm just curious as to how loud it will be? If the H100 fans are said to be loud and If I was to get after-market fans on the GTX670 (which I guess are louder than stock :D) then I might go with the Obsidian 550D for sound management, as long as it doesn't affect heat management too much

Again cheers for the help guys, cant believe after a day I've nearly got my exact spec nailed down!

Dont apologise - if it were my I'd still want an individual look at my list of parts. Just simply stating that we answer the same things, and give the same advice every day :)

And no, the non-reference fans are quieter than stock... For one, they're bigger so they have to do less RPM to shift the same amount of air, and also, there's 2 of them, effectively halving the speed they have to run at

Ah cool, and I suspect most people buy non-reference fans with overclocking in mind anyway.

In your sig James you use a Noctua D14, whilst I was looking at Hydro H100 reviews I saw that particular fan pop up in comparison. What is your opinion of it if I may ask :>

With all the reviews online about it I dont know what more I can say. It's silent at 7v and at 4.5v it keeps me under 70 degrees.

The only reason I'd see anyone choosing the noise H100 over it would be because the D14 covers most of your motherboard. I dont dislike the colours or anything, and any decent air cooler is always going to be big, but it's the price you have to pay for not going for the H100. But I'd prefer the silence over the reported loud pumps of the H100.

If both are similar in performance then I may as well go for the D14 if its going to be quieter, Why would people be fussed about it covering most of the motherboard? Purely because of its colour or would it be too close to other components? Sorry if that's a horrible question lol, it sounded it!

The D14 appears to be a bit cheaper than the H100 as well :o

Just cause people often want see through a window at all the insides. I personally like that myself, and if you've paid for expensive RAM such as dominator platinum then it's a shame if you cant even get to see it.
The colour does put a fair few off yeh. I dont mind it so much while on the heatsink. I do think rigs look hideous when they just have a random, out of colour noctua fan as an exhaust. Even if they are the best fans, for an exhaust fan it doesn't make that much difference so may as well just go for something tasteful.

The funny thing is the current case I'm looking at doesn't have any windows to peer into, which might actually make me look for more :p Thanks for your advice though, you do make a good point.

If you do get one with a window, it will open up whole new realms of LED strips, cathode tubing and LED fans ;) along with cable braiding and just making sure everything inside looks perfect.
Look at the corsair 600T, that's got a nice window

You could also consider the 650d. It is a very nice case indeed.
Funnily enough I was looking at the 650d last night, so far it's the case of choice I think, it's a bit expensive though!

Sucks that those huge clip/handles are at the side though, brings it down a little :(

Yeh the clips can be a little bit of an eye sore, but you get used to them after a bit. The other cases that have been mentioned are also very good :)

I'm pretty much torn between the white 600t and the 650d now. I'd imagine with all the after-market cooling and the amount of grills and fans both cases have I'll be more than fine on the heating front. It's now just boiling down to which case would be quieter :p

If anyone owns any of the two cases I'd love to hear your opinions on them!

Well the 200mm fans on the 650D are pretty loud on full tilt. I've replaced the top 200mm exhaust with 2 BeQuiet Silent Wings and I have the front intake at around 600 - 800 rpm most of the time. As long as you run the front 200mm fan under 1000 rpm, the overall noise levels of the 650D will be very low. I'd recommend replacing at least the top 200mm exhaust for increased quietness.

Right i'll get on replacing the 650d fans. are http://www.scan.co.uk/products/120mm-be-quiet!-bl043-case-fan-silent-wings-pure the fans that you're talking about?

I'm thinking about getting the Noctua D14 to save some cash and ofc it being so quiet and good makes sense, even if its a little ugly! Will the Noctua fit fine with the Silent wings above it? I cant find much information regarding how that fan fits on the GD56 mobo with the Corsair Vengeance RAM etc.

Thanks again guys

Alright cheers yassarikhan, I was looking at the Noctua fan also http://www.scan.co.uk/products/120mm-noctua-nf-f12-pwm-focused-flow-pwm-cooling-fan-quiet, slightly more expensive and not the most ideal colour, but I guess these fans are all very similar for sound and air flow right?

After looking around a bit more I think I may side with the Phanteks cpu cooler, http://www.scan.co.uk/products/phan...ion-w-2x-140mm-blue-silent-fans-all-intel-amd - It's supposedly very similar to the D14 and it matches my GD65 mobo's colour, I'd like to get a blue/black theme going inside the case! The blue corsair vengeance low profile should look ok too! :p

I came across a GTX670 FTW, its only £10 more than the Palit GTX670, it looks better on paper, but does anyone know if it's worth the extra money overall?

Again thanks guys!

The NF-F12 fans are very good as well. I've not used them personally but Tom rates them a lot so you can't go wrong :D.

The Phanteks cooler does perform similarly and the great thing is you can choose a colour that suits your build.

I don't know much about the differences between the cards apart from the 670 FTW having a reference cooler. I would still go for the Palit as it looks better and performance wise the difference between the two cards will be very insignificant/non-existent.

If you get the NF-F12, be prepared to run at 5/7v. They're frustratingly loud.
Really? I've seen a fair few people say they're the best 'most quiet' case fans out there :o I'll look into it some more. I've been told that http://www.scan.co.uk/products/120mm-scythe-gentle-typhoon-1850-rpm-cooling-fan is also good! They all seem so similar and there doesn't seem to be a clear favourite lol. I just want two quiet solid case fans :D

After seeing a few real nice photo's of the 600t white edition I'm edging toward that too :p Looking at some pictures it looks like the 650d starts to wear after a while, the brushed black looks hawt but if it starts to look worn on the edges after a while that would suck :p Can anyone with the 650d let us know how long they look fresh for? :>

ty yassarikhan786, yeah the palit looks real nice, and the aftermarket fans seem solid, going with that :)
