Hi,

I recently purchased the monitor AOC i2353Ph and after I read many reviews all of them give big positive as for colors and image quality specially that it is e-IPS.

But when I got the monitor I found the colors are very ordinary at high brightness/contrast and when I lower these settings so my eyes does not get hurt the colors start to look washed out and faint

I tried many color profiles and I calibrate the monitor many times but still same result weak colors even weaker than my old TN Samsung

Please advise is there a way to fix that ?

Thanks

IPS monitors were/are designed for technical imagery artists (IE:CAD designers, photographers)

their wide viewing angles and high contrast, at the cost of brightness and color reproduction, have been sacrificed with pixel response speed.

after doing a bit more research (on your behalf) i found this:
  • Brightness: 250 cd/m2
  • Contrast Ratio (typical): 50000000:1 (DCR)
  • Response Time (typical): 5ms(GTG)
  • Viewing Angle: 178/178

compared with over LCD/LED screens with less contrasts and higher responses... the AOC IPS is NOT a gaming monitor.

what was your intent on purchasing it?

I did my home work. I wanted to replace my old TN and have a very good picture quality over any TN monitor. and I read all the reviews on the net all of them say excellent or very good color reproductions but this is not what I face here !! I mean on the desktop , browsing, movies and games and I know it is not perfect for games.

what video card you running?

MSI 460 Hawk. do you think the card responsible for bad colors ?

I also had to set the RGB to 76,100,100 to see correct white at brightness/contrast (10,20 respectively) so my eyes dont become red while working.

Text look very good and sharp but colors look very ordinary like Samsung T23A350 I feel disappointing !! even the viewing angle is almost the same !! .

I may get the Asus ML239H and compare.

Thanks

I discovered that in nVidia panel in "Adjust desktop colors" the option "other applications control color settings" was active when I changed to "Use nVidia settings" and I adjusted gamma, brightness and contrast everything start too look very good !!

I think I fixed my problem.
