Hey guys, my current rig is running out of steam these days for what i do (mainly gaming) and was wanting to build a new rig. Got about £600 to play with, and came up with this

e8400

Asus P5Q-E

2 GIG corsair XM2 PC 8500

Asus 9800GTX+ (dont like ati)

Lian Li PC-7B

Gigabyte Odin PSU 650w

320 gig WD Blue

Any thoughts?

Cooling

yea guys, the cooling im using is a Freexer 7 pro, as i have used them in the past to great effect. The optical is a Asus DRDRW.

My main concerns where the graphic's card, as i Hear some of the ATi offerings where a bit hotter, but faster. Really my main choice for the card was its performance/price and i know that there quiet, not a fan of loud pc's.

Any thoughts on the case? or should it all be dandy in there

Thanks

well,what can i say,i'd go for the 9800gtx+ too,it's a good card .. high performance for it's price

about the case..i would chose the antec 900 ( 100$ , Lian Li PC-7B costs about 100 too )

Case

Had a antec 900, its looks good and has good cooling, but i hate working in it, bit cramped and im not a fan of the HD caddys.

Always wanted a lian li to, They ooze quality. Plus i have seen various guides on soundproofing them, and it looks well good ;)

I'm using the Cosmos S atm. certainly no worries about space to work in. Though maybe a worry about the hole it leaves in your wallet!

Note that the highly clocked dual core will only help at lower resolutions. A Q6600 will probably be a better choice, but that is up to you.

I would nudge the motherboard down to a P5Q Pro, and get some GeIL Black Dragon PC6400. Antec 900, Corsair VX550 (unless the higher models don't cost too much more, that really depends on where you are going to buy the parts from), and a WD6400AAKS. I would go ATI, but that is up to you, I don't know why you don't like ATI, there is nothing wrong with them.

Yea man, as i said, had a antec, didnt like working in it, Also had pc6400 ram, not really going to be stable with the overclock i have in mind, i like running as near to 1:1 as possible, corsair power supply's will make me go over budget as well. Then with ati, any card i have had has gave me gype, my friend has went through 4 4850's through RMA in 2 months as they keep overheating, and a 4870 is out of my budget as well :L
