My mind keeps telling me no, but my body..... My body keeps telling me yes!

Like a lot of people at the moment hmmm'ing and arrrrgh'ing about the recent release of 980ti, wondering if it's worth the upgrade.

Well I'm in the same boat, Im currently using a EGVA 780ti classified stock @1440p ( Rog swift ) but I'm having serious debates about upgrading, I have no plans for 4K to be honest so I have a couple of options I'm considering....

1. Sell the 780ti for a 980ti
2. Buy another 780ti for SLI

I'm trying to weigh up the Pro's and Con's of each but I'm stuck at a dead end :(

HELP ME!

seeing as you have a 1000w psu and staying with 1440p i would get a 2nd 780 ti.

but it i was to go for a 980ti and not full custom loop, git the evga one with a AIO :)

ps. i also in the same boat but with a 780 over 2 980's not a high end 780 ti and 980 ti...
but then again i'm going 4k for fallout 4 :P (see what i did there lol)

I don't think you need to have 4k to justify a 980Ti, you'll reap the benefits at 1440p certainly. Id' have a look at the benchmarks of games that you play and see if it's worth the cost - to you :). No one will ill judge you if upgraded :).

Yeah I know what your saying but I've got a serious 980ti urge, since when do we enthusiasts care about logic when it comes to needing to upgrade and wanting to upgrade ;) The EGVA 980ti classified is calling to me!

As for Fallout 4 I've never played any of the previous games as I'm not really into that genre but looks pretty good so might give it a go.

Pros of sli 780ti over 980ti:
- 780ti sli will out perform a 980ti by around 14-18%
- Cheaper Option by around £100-120

Cons of 780ti sli over 980ti:
- 12 month from now they won't be worth selling (dead money)
- frame drop in some game will be much greater than a single card, maybe reducing performance and stability over a single 980ti

Pros of 980ti over 780ti sli:
- will hold your money much better than 780ti sli
- better stability
- full DX12.1 compatability/support (I think, but most certainly ful DX12 support)
- can upgrade to sli when you want to (maybe when they become as cheap as what the 780ti is now)

Excuse any typos, tad intoxicated.

I like your thinking, plus if I can shift my 780ti for a half decent price there wouldn't be much difference in buy a second to buying a 980ti.

what games do you play?

Games I play the most would be Arma 2/3, battlefield 3/4 but looking to expand my library with games like Fallout 4 maybe the Hitman collection and Ghost Recon Wildlands.

That's actually helped a lot, in the long run the 980ti seems the best option based on the pros over the 780ti.

If it were me, I'd consider waiting *just* a little longer, in case there are price cuts on the 980Ti's. That's the best choice for sure IMO, but I hear rumors about price cuts coming. Not big ones mind you. 980Ti is definitely the best long-term option.

Another pro for the 980ti over sli 780ti is that you'll get far better performance with games that don't support SLI on launch day, or won't ever - such as Wolfenstien.

Also, if you did get another 780ti and got used to that performance, a single 980ti would no longer be an upgrade path. Then you'll be calling the Multiple Graphics Card Addiction Support Line asking for help. Anyone got their number? :D
