So yea because of the economic hard times getting a job is becoming increasingly more difficult. Currently I work at Radio Shack (AVOID THIS PLACE) and have been for about 6 months now. I am not coming on here to just complain rather to talk about my frustrations. I am sure we have all had a job were it placed our passion for something to a dead halt. If you have not noticed I have been inactive on this forum for months, popping in and out every so often. My passion for computers has stopped, I haven't even so much as dusted my rig in 4 months or even considered an upgrade. I have not played a single video game longer than 10 minutes every 2 months. Radio Shack pays well it's $7.30 an hour plus commission I make about $900 a month. And I have another small job that rakes in another $400 a month. After all the bills are payed I have about $600 a fun money each month. $200 of that "Fun Money" goes to food.
I am only supposed to be part time at Radio Shack and in Arizona part time is under 40 hours a week, and part time is what I need because I am also a full time college student. I work 37 hours a week (hardly what I was expecting) and my other job is just on my free time so no biggie there. I am also on hot seat at my job because I am "Under Performing." Radio Shack if you are not all aware started selling cell phones and we have to keep up with selling those, and for some stupid reason me selling laptops, Tablets, GPSs, Kindles, TVs, .etc is not enough? So if I can't sell X amount of phones this week I lose my job. By boss says he will be performing another set of interviews after December to see if he would want to keep us. So far my boss does not want to keep me.
Now I am not a very good salesman when it comes to phones, don't ask me why because I just do not know. And because of this is why I am not desired any more. But the one thing that I have that NO ONE at my Radio Shack, and frankly NONE of the Radio Shacks in our district has is TECH SMARTS!!! The reason I bring this up is because the lack of tech smarts is what is KILLING Radio Shack (the fact that it's still in business blows my mind). People give low ratings to the Shack because no one who works there knows single F*** of what they are selling and all they know is cell phones, so we are required to nag, nag, and nag some more to get the person to the phones. Which is okay to an extent, after all a little bit of nagging is what makes a good sales men a good sales men. But even I can see that cell phones are not going to save Shack from its inevitable doom.
So when this next interview comes around I am going to straight up tell my boss that the reason why Shack is failing is because neither you nor any of your other employees have the faintest idea of any of your products workings. My boss actually asked me if you can put Photos on a CD. That is how bad it is. I remember when going into a Radio Shack meant you were going to talk to people who knew what they were talking about, now it has been poisoned with cell phone salesmen, that is ONLY what they know.
This is defiantly going to get me fired BUT the up side is I can focus more on school and my passion for computers, and gaming. I know it sounds a little immature for me to say focus my passion on gaming and computers, but they are two things I love (Next to my GF of course
) And loosing a passion for something really hurts inside. I am going to apply at the store that actually knows what the hell they are talking about. My local Frys Electronics.
Thank you for reading my little rant. I did this on my ipad so excuse any spelling errors. I will fix them when I get on my computer.
