My First 4ghz Overclock (980x)

I tried 1.27vcore QPI 1.37v but a worker failed in prime after about 2 minutes.

So I have put it back to 1.30vcore (Although CPUZ says 1.29) and QPI 1.35v, as this seemed the most stable... going to run prime for a couple of hours to be sure though.

Temps are:-

Baring in mind I haven't given the CPU a break all day LOL

haha yeah your not giving your CPU an easy time

Temps are a little high but keeping in mind that you most likely will not reach 82 degrees while every day use you are probably fine :)NB is hot to but it seems as this is normal on Rampage 3 boards..

SB is normal imo.

Exactly how of fen is the CPU going to be running 100% flat out, I don't even think games do........

Last night you were saying when it was stable to go 0.1v more for safety, should I be running at 1.31v?

Sorry for all the questions you must be sick of me by now LOL

With a hyperthreaded six core processor I don't think any game on the marker will max your CPU 100%

Well that's usually what I do I find the Voltage where the CPU BSOD's and i bump the Vcore 0.02 just for safety. You are about +0.01 from when your CPU failed right? You can bump it up 0.01 more if you want to be a little more on the safe side..

Haha no, I'm just happy I could help out

You might want to download Coretemp or Real temp Btw, Because Mwmonitor Allways gives me 3-4C less Then those, I would love to think my CPU runs cooler then it does.

I have had Prime95 running for 5 hours (Fell Asleep LOL) One of the workers failed after 3 hours of Prime95 (is this cuz i ran it for so long)?

Going to put vcore up to 1.31v to be safe I think...... (or should I be putting it up more cuz one failed)?

Thanks peeps for all your help you have been great, guess we are nearly there......

Yeah we really are close

Well I think your good with 1.31 Vcore and maybe increase QPI to 1.36v. I think that will work just fine. That 980x is really giving you a hard time
wink.gif

OK I have just downloaded Realtemp, and I dunno which one I should be using........ Realtemp.exe (only shows 3 x temps in a row, I have no idea why as most people have 4) and RealTempGT.exe (Has 6 temps) which is the one I should be using??

Why does it only show 3 on the other one, everyone else seems to have 4 LOL

I have changed the vcore 1.31v do I need to run prime95 for over 3 hours????

You changed your name, didn't recongise it LMAO

4 workers have failed now.....................

on 1.31v (it ran for over an hour on that this morning)

Update! just put QPI to 1.36v

WHAT?
blink.gif
that's just strange.... I would Uninstall prime and download the latest just in case... if that dose not help go for a QPI voltage of 1.4 and see if there is any differences at all..

I have no idea y it only shows 3 temps(cores).. but the reason everybody has 4 temps is because it seams to be the norm..
wink.gif
in other words they only have 4 cores you have 6 thus you should have 6 temp readings.

Do you think running the RAM at 2000mhz is causing the problem???? maybe I need to run it at 1600mhz or something.......

Yes that was what i was about to suggest it seems as your IMC cant handle 2000Mhz RAM, but there is nothing wrong with your RAM. In other words your CPU cant handle 2000Mhz Ram without really high QPI/Vcore...

Go for 1600Mhz and set QPI to 1.3 and Vcore to 1.3 and start from there
