My First 4ghz Overclock (980x)

Ok just a test: What do you think we need to increase?

and how much?

No RAM is at 2000mhz Timings 8.8.8.24, although CPU-Z says DRAM Frequency is 1002.4mhz but in bios its set to 2005mhz

If your ram is the same as mine they are rated at 8-9-8-24. They don't like 8-8-8-24 without again more QPI/VTT voltage and maybe more VMem.

It's corsair dominator 2000mhz ram, say on the side of the ram 8.8.8.24 which is why I set it to that, but I will change it if you think that maybe the problem?

No if thats what they are rated for then that is fine. Obviously its a better kit than mine!

Woohoo am learning LOL so cuz the ram is running at 2000mhz it needs more volts?

Why does CPU-Z only show DRAM frequency at 1002.3mhz, when in the bios it's nearly double that?

Prime95 has crashed "Prime95 application has stopped working" although no workers failed, or not that I saw anyway

A worker did fail number 8 grrrrrrrrrrr!

once again i would try increasing the QPI. Go for 1.35V. did it run any longer then last time?

As for the memory speed reading in CPU-Z, its normal it has somthing to du with the memory being doul-channel or somting like that

I have put the QPI TO 1.34v did it before I got your message,

Ran for about same amount of time I think......

It's kinda a nightmare to get stable huh?

When I am upping the QPI volts the ram that prime95 uses is less, 3.05gbs now

Well OC'ing can be VERY! frustrating but the first time you overclock you have no idea what sort of voltage you need so its just a matter of going up and up until you find a stable voltage. (nut ofc. not to high)

As Joe wrote he needs 1.42V QPI to be stable so keep trying

if 1.35V dose not work go for 1.4V

Could my motherboard be at fault here, cuz I'm not 100% it's ok, as like I said a while back USB connection keep connecting disconnecting (not keyboard etc but like my iPhone, and an external DVD drive, I can't burn anything with it, cuz when it goes to power up it disconnects (if you know what I mean)

But if my motherboard has become faulty this might be the reason for the unstable ness?????
