Msi z77a club

MSI and I are pretty tight at this point :) I think I've narrowed down my problems to Lucid Virtu, when it's not enabled everything seems OK so I think I'm going to live without it from now on.

Oh, and remember to type the numbers or use + and -, because almost nothing is selectable anymore!

Yeah, I reflashed to the previous version as soon as you mentioned using the +/- buttons. Annoying, but at least we can still adjust stuff, I suppose.

Thank you PapaSmurf for the B13 ver of the BIOS..and dont know what MSi is workin on for 13 revisions of the 10.6 BIOS, but good to know that they'r putting the effort

changes are noticeable...
1. no more CPU Temp read out on Debug LED after POST
2. Intel ME (PCH-FW) update to 8.1.1248
3. Intel Gigabit NIC config option
4. CPU core engine speed to core switching frequency...etc etc

Well those are some changes i noticed...and hey PapaSmurf since ur so close to MSi, could u tell them to put the PC Health status together (both Temps and Voltages) cos its jus annoying ....also flashing the BIOS ROM's could be more flexible (1 to 2 and 2 to 1 like on my first Rampage Extreme x48)

Alright Thanks again guys :)

So MSI has sent me their latest beta BIOS for the GD65 to see if it would fix my problems, and I've decided to share it with all you nice folk.
Quick Disclaimer: This BIOS is for the MSI Z77A-GD65 board ONLY! Do not flash if you have any other board, including one in the MSI Z77 family. Although I flashed this BIOS just fine, I cannot guarantee you will have the same luck and I am therefore not responsible if anything were to go wrong with your board because of this. Flashing is your descision, I'm just sharing the file!

This BIOS will update you to version 10.6 B11. You can download the BIOS here, and you can find flashing instructions here if you don't know how. So far this BIOS is running fine, I have noticed a couple tweaks here and there in the UEFI itself, but nothing major. I'm hoping most of the changes went into the non-visible part of the BIOS, as that is what I'm relying on to fix my problems! If you have no problems with your board, I wouldn't recommend flashing unless you're an adventurous kind of person like I am. I will need to leave my computer off overnight to see if it fixed the problem I was having, but I'll report back in the morning. Good luck everyone!

Edit 1: Just noticed one thing, the voltages set in the BIOS are more accurate to what happens in the OS. For example, I have had to run my 3570K at 1.2V and 100% Vdroop to get 4.5GHZ, but CPU-Z would never say 1.2V. Now it says 1.2V at idle, and drops to 1.192 at full load. So you might be able to put in less volts then you had to before, as the voltages seem to be more accurate.

Also, MSI have gone ahead and made it so almost none of the settings in the OC portion of the BIOS are selectable, which means you will either have to type in the desired value or use the - and + keys to adjust the value in their lowest increments. Those are the main things I've noticed so far.
For me flashing is simply update the bios :)

Can't install Windows from USB

Hi everyone,
Just got my new MSI Z77A-GD65 board, set my 2 SSD drives in RAID0 (CTRL+I option) and now the problems start. I wasn't planning on buying any optical drives (I never used it, well... almost never) so I prepared a bootable USB KEY with WIN7 x64 (it works on my old rig). When I switch my system on everything seems to be working fine, it boots from USB loads the files, next the win logo appears with "starting windows" underneath and that's it, it freezes. I tried several times with different sata modes (RAID, AHCI, IDE) and same thing, the only difference between those different settings is that in one of them it goes a little further with the installation and freezes on the blue screen (just before the language option should appear), cursor disappears and that's it. In every case the Debug LED Panel displays "A0" (IDE initialization is started?) and the "CPU PHASE LEDs" from all blue go down to only one "led1". I cannot verify at this point whether I'd still have this issue when booting from CD/DVD or not. I will check it out when I have time.

Any suggestions???

My new config:
MB: MSI Z77A-GD65
CPU: 3770K + Corsair H100
RAM: 4 x 4GB Corsair Dominator Platinum
HDD: 2 x Corsair Force GT 120GB
PSU: Corsair AX1200i
GPU: still in the Post Office - getting them on Monday (2 x GIGABYTE GTX670 OC)

I'd try formatting your USB stick and redownload Windows once more.
If that doesn't work, try flashing your BIOS to the latest. You'll need to format another USB drive to FAT32, then place the BIOS file on the USB drive. Load up the UEFI and go to Utlities, where M Flash should be an option. You should be able to follow the steps shown on screen from there :)

I'll give it a try and get back with the results. Cheers

Brilliant, updating BIOS worked like a charm. Thanks a lot. :worship:

Another thing, I've set my 2 SSDs as RAID0, Is there any BIOS settings I should know of (apart from sata mode - set to RAID currently) to fully benefit from the RAID configuration?

Glad to hear it fixed your problem :)
And nope, you've done all you need to.

hi guys, I've joined this club under the guidance of several of your members. Ended up with the GD65 as it was on offer on ebuyer for £8 more then the GD55. Anyway still need to get my head around this bios and work out how to change the timings of my ram to its actual timmings.

Anyway im sure I will be posting in here a fair bit about any problems I come across.

Cheers for the recommendation guys.

It reads the instructions set by the RAM's manufacturer to automatically set all your timings out. Handy tool :)

Edit: I dun type slow :(

Z77 MPower?

Is the Z77 MPower a good board?
I like the look and spec's but see that not many of you if any have this board,is there a reason?
