MSI R7950 Twin Frozr iii Black Artifacts

This problem first started occurring about 2 days ago, it started off when I was playing Call of Duty Black Ops 2 where what would happen is my frames per second would suddenly drop down to about 20 from a solid 60 w/ vsync and down from about 160-200 w/o vsync, but as soon as I moved my mouse or had any sort of input the FPS would shoot back up.
Also just to add my card would get awfully loud and hot for no reason what so ever.

Then I noticed also when I leave it idle for about 1 minute on my desktop I would get random black squares appear (Mainly on the taskbar and some around the sides of the screen), I then loaded up AMD Catalyst control center to see what was happening and like I could hear the fan speed would shoot up and the card activity and temperature would also reach high levels when the black squares appeared and flickered.

I already done a bit of reading up before I came here and I have done a few things already but all without success, here is what I have done so far:

  • Reseated my Graphics card
  • Cleaned my whole computer out using compressed air (No more dust)
  • Updated my Graphics drivers to the latest version (AMD Catalyst 13.1 or something)

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I look forward to getting any feedback from you guys/girls and I shall keep you updated and post clearer pictures when I am back at my house, thanks again :)

did you install the drivers properly? or to be more exact, did you get rid of the old driver properly?
also my guess would be your card gets too hot, temps?
/edit
didn't read the post properly. either you try to put new thermal paste on or you just RMA it. the card is probably done for it though.

No I did not uninstall the old drivers before I installed the new ones, I will do that later when I get back to mine. The temps of my card idle (before these black squares started appearing) were around the 30°C but since the random artifacts started appearing idle temps are anywhere from about 35-56°C, The highest temp I have ever gotten was after playing Far Cry 3 for a few hours and that brought it to about 70°C+.

If I can't find a solution for it within the next 2 days I will just RMA it as I have only had the card for about 4 months.

#Edit- I forgot to mention that my card is actually the OC edition of the Twin Frozr iii

A quick update on my situation,
I was suggested by a friend to change my theme to windows basic getting rid of all the 'Aero' effects and this stopped all the black artifacts on my desktop however I still need to RMA my card as the activity, temps and fan speed still rise when the card is idle for about 1 minute.
