Dual GPU 7950GX2 video card!

I just found out about this new video card coming up by the end of May apparently. The news orignated from a french website clubic.com, but MSI France asked them to shut down the page.

However you can still find some info about the card on nordichardware.com and some other websites.

Basically it will be similar to a SLI configuration but only using one PCI-E slot. Not sure exactly about the overall performance but it looks really cool, although one may think that it will be difficult to change the cooling system, no way to put the latest Zalman for example and not sure about WC!?

Anyway the card was set to be released mid may but apparently Nvidia postponded the release to end of May. The cost is not that high for what you get: 649 Euros (from Clubic.com), other sources claimed a price tag of 800 Euros!

Seems like a pretty good alternative to SLI!

Something doesn't look right there.....Last I had heard they were supposed to be able to run in SLI with the 7950gx2. Unless the SLI connector is on the card in the back?

I'm pretty sure I heard singly not as good at 7900GTX SLI due to the fact that the cores are clocked way down, like 500 I think. Something like that <shrugs>

Plus the heat load of two gpu's sandwiched is terrible, and you cant even upgrade the cooling.

I was thinking that same thing about the heat and inability to customize cooling on them :( Maybe DD or Swiftech will find a way to get a waterblock in there sometime.

No won't happen. You need to be able to pull the cards apart for that and I beleive the heatsinks help hold the cards together.

Yes but the single card isnt good as two 7900GTX. the single card now has two cores i.e. two of it will be much better then two 7900GTX.
