I would personally go with the MSI version because of the cooler...

that would give a nice overclock ones the voltage is upped...

EDIT even without a voltage it would still overclock like mad most of them kinda do

from what i have have seen the MSI hawk gives a better bang for your buck. With its cooling, you can overclock the MSI Hawk to within spitting distance of a stock 480

the 460 doesnt suffer from what the 480 does it doesnt suck up a ton of power and make u sweat like an alcoholic in an off licence

around 300 somthing its more than the hawk i was thinking about getting the msi 480 lighting that just came out but meh these run quiter and colder

unfornatly the gene only supports 2 gpus + im pretty sure 2 is enough for me i thought the 465 was worse than the 460 the hawk and the twin frozr are pretty much the same I think?

i knew this b4 i bought them

main use of mt cards is f@h

Sure, but don't tell me you're not gutted that you now have three and can't strap them all. The TF is worth the extra pennies IMO. It's got a fatter fuller GPU on it and when cooled properly (as that one does) it will slaughter the 460.

We have tested a 460, which is actually the model beneath the 465. It's pretty woeful compared to any 465, much less the MSI one.

So actually this version utterly out-performs the 460 which is why we didn't bother comparing.

Which can not be ignored. Yes, the 460 is a cracking card and for the money is amazing. However, it's sometimes not going to be up to what some one wants. I understand your enthusiam for the card as it's been good to you, but I don't go around telling everyone to buy Crossfire 5770s because they're amazing and run cool and use hardly any power. (not replying to VB of course I just wanted to put that there)

The 465 is a better more powerful less cut down GPU. It was never a bad GPU it was just too hot, same as the others that came on release. Now though? well, it's been proven beyond doubt that when cooled properly they are VERY good GPUs.

They are worse when the temps are not in check. However see my above posting. The 465 is a far superior card WHEN the temps are reigned in. Release units used smaller versions of the 2 series coolers, which were crap on the 2 series. Example, the 465 used a smaller version of the 2 series cooler that wasn't even adequate on a 260 (it was bigger on a 260 too !) the 470 used a cheaper looking 280 cooler which wasn't adequate on the 280 and the 480 used a 280 cooler with go faster pipes. None of which was very successful at all, proving Nvidia just DO NOT have a clue when it comes to cooling.

MSI do, and, with the twin frozr proved once and for all what a fantastic GPU the 465 is *IF* you can control the beast within.

not gutted in the slightest since i bought my first 460 3 months ago then bought another one had to rma one and bought another 2 so i was well aware of there sli capabilites

If you can afford it? well, it's up to you. I know it would be faster than two 460s.

How much is a pair of 460s? and how much is a pair of twin frozr?

The thing you need to work out is price per performance. Yes, price per performance the 460 is aces, but at last check the twin frozr was very cheap.

I know you said the twin frozr was $300 (AUSD I think is the term?) but how much are the 460s? Sorry if you said and I missed it..

OR 1 gtx 480? then overclock it

I would say no to that. Fact is you won't get an overclock out of a 480 without putting it under water. They are scorchingly hot and EXTREMELY hard to tame. Thus, you need to be extreme like Hayley and get it all under water.

He said it was $300 AUSD which IIRC are worth nowhere near the same as a UKP.

UK£ 220 = 364.592465 Australian dollars

So, let's run that backwards.

300 Australian dollars = 181.024038 British pounds

Right, Stepy I know you got yours for £116 but I highly doubt he can get them anywhere near as cheap as that in Aus. The 460 *STILL* retails at RRP (not on OCUK special) for about £150. Meaning for £31 extra he can have a far faster card.

ill get the prices right now so we can all discuss this.

Excellent. I'm not being an Ahole btw, I just want to make sure you get the absolute most performance for your hard earned cash
