msi hawk 1gb or asus gtx 460 1gb???

That's true. But then if we all waited for that we would be here forever. See - PC parts travelator. Sometimes you need to just get off.

Fact is that a pair of 460s or 465 twin frozrs is a very good thing indeed. So it doesn't really matter what happens after the purchase as they'll last for years.

How much is it? You need to bear the following in mind.

GTX 480 is hot. Very very hot. Also guzzles down power. You will have a very hard time taming it. I haven't read a review but the cooler does look decent.

Then consider...

A pair of 460s in SLI will beat a 480. A pair of 465 TF in SLI will beat a pair of 460 in SLI.

In SLI you can expect an 85% increase over a single card. Best part? when SLI is inactive (IE you're not gaming) the second card downclocks and volts to pretty much nothing. Meaning heat, noise and power draw are considerably less than running a 480 *all* the time. The 480 is also slower. So, unless the 480 works out cheaper than either SLI option? then there's utterly no reason upon earth why you should get a 480 dude.

SLI and Crossfire absolutely rock the house now (on dual cards) and are supported pretty much in everything. SLI can be a pain because it's driver dependant, but, Nvidia are on the ball with it and you may have a week wait when a new game comes out to get full scaling and speeds.

Crossfire scales in everything but sometimes needs a profile. Incase you were wondering what a profile is? it's incredibly simple. It's a tiny document that tells the cards what to do. There are a few methods of scaling and it simply tells the cards how to go about it. Default scaling does it in a certain way but this doesn't work well with all games. The profiles sort that out.

So with the 480? I would say it's close to being an absolute no dude. A pair of 460s seem to be much cheaper worldwide and will pee in the 480's cornflakes all day, every day.

And depending on the price the 465s will do more of the same, only even better.

omg thankyou! god it seems so much clearer to me now. question is now the HAWK or the twin frozr? hmm price i can change so im not to concerned aslong its not stupidly over. i havent found many pc stores with the frozr?

The 465 Twin Frozr is a faster card. It can't be any clearer than that tbh dude.

They are hard to find, so if you can't don't sweat it. A pair of 460s will do you right

Edit. But please, whatever you do DO NOT get stock 465s. They are absolutely rubbish. It's the cooling that is the problem, and the 465 would probably cool better if you sat and blew on it.

The HAWK has the twin frozr cooler on it

Anybody know the difference between the:MSI N465GTX Twin Frozr II GE GeForce GTX 465, and the: MSI N465GTX Twin Frozr II GeForce GTX 465.

Only reason I ask is this conversation got me to looking and the GE model($279) is about $30 US more than the HAWK 460($249) but the second one I mentioned is a whopping $75 cheaper than the HAWK after a mial in rebate ($175.) These prices are from Newegg which is about the cheapest over here.

I just did some searching (need to do more to confirm) and it seems so far that the GE stands for Golden Edition and can be unlocked to a GTX470

Seems Msi put out 2500 of these and they have numbers to tell you which one you have. I can see a sticker on the Newegg photos, and the cooler is gold.link

Sorry I got to the rig specs and then fell off my chair with laughter. I love it when people have rigs like that. ooooh its sooooo good.

ROFL @ the n00000b just rofl.
