Moving to 4GB of RAM..

i wouldnt go for 4gb of ram personally, no difference in games.

but iunless u need it for video editing, or thatkind of work, i would go for the 4x1gb, buy 2 seperate 2gb kits

Yeh but sometimes in vista i get to like using around 1.9GB of RAM which slows me right down to a crawl.. and im also thinking or RAID'ing 2 HDD's together.

I just moved to 4gb today, I had the dominators lying around (need to rma them again) anyway, mem remap in bios = 3.4 total, 3.0gb available, so it's only an extra gig. I'm also unable to oc at all, this is prob due to the dominators are faulty and unmatched against the celly's.

Trying to work out if its better to have 2gb's of fast ram or 3gb of average speed ram (around 850mhz)... THis is on xp though.

So far I can't tell any difference...

I've done loads of testing with 2 and 4GiB and have concluded that there is no noticable difference in speed in anything that I can see, but I did find that the more RAM you have fitted, the more vista uses, but with little to no gain in performance...at least for the everyday stuff that I do :)

One other thing though, if your system is grinding to a halt with a lot of RAM usage, it is quite likely your antivirus. I was experiencing this with Kaspersky and did find a workaround that cuts the memory usage by around 50%, which I'll post if anyone is interested :)

Dno coz i have always used norton.. so i havent changed lol. :) is Nod32 any good?

To be fair, each have their critics, each have their good/bad points (more so than others maybe), but I find Nod32 favorable to gamers in particular coz of it`s lack of overheads compared with the others.

been using NOD32 for a few years now and what i like about it most is that it uses the least resources compared to most Anti virus programs.
