Moving Battlefield 3 to SSD

I don't think you can. When I moved it from one drive to another origin didn't recognise its new location. I may be wrong though, that's just what happened to me.

I think you have to move your Origin folder and your Origin games folder to your SSD.

my BF3 isn't in my origin folder, it's in C:\program files (x86)\battlefield i think

I did buy a retail copy rather than the downloadable origin copy however so I don't know if this makes a difference

You can do this using NTFS Linking. I've done it myself. I have a 2TB disk with Origin installed and then I simply have the BF3 folder (and only that one folder) loaded from my 120GB SSD.

This is what you do.

Step 1: Download and Install this free software (It's very lightweight, well made, no bloatware) http://schinagl.priv...n.html#download

Step 2: Completely exit Origin

Step 3: Go to your Origin Games folder. (Usually found in C:\Program Files\Origin Games)

Step 4: Copy your Battlefield 3 folder from this location to your SSD drive where you want it to load from.

Step 5: Right click the Battlefield 3 folder you just copied to your SSD and select "Pick Link Source"

Step 6: Return back to your Origin Games folder and right click in the folder and select "Drop As..." and when the contextual menu comes out select "Symbolic Link"

And that's it. All done. Now when you play Battlefield 3 it will load from your SSD instead of your hard drive. This Symbolic Link is actually a file system feature of NTFS and it is fully transparent to your software which means once you set this up you don't need to do anything else. Files will be read and written to the linked folder on your SSD as normal and your Origin client will believe Battlefield 3 is still in its original position in your Origin Games folder. I use this for Team Fortress 2 with Steam and Battlefield 3 with Origin.

Hope this helped

Thank you very much you have clearly taken the time to tell me! Much apprecicated, will give it a go when the SSD arrives!

Symlinking is definitely the best way to do it as shown above, works for steam games too.

I personally use this app to do it, really simple visual interface.
