So firstly, I'll have a build log coming with all of the updates of my rig over the last year including me finally finishing her off which is why I'v been absent from the forum for a few weeks.
Now onto my actual problem that I can't seem to figure out. I recently acquired an old Q6600 system from one of my sisters old school friends. It's not ideal as its a dell system with awkward mounting and motherboards etc all over the shop (meaning that I can't even change the cooler...). I am limited to having the same case which has exceptionally bad airflow and also means that I can't properly mount all of the drives and fans that I want to which may force my hand to actually make another case for it. However this is not the problem I have as it runs and runs just fine.
I have freeNAS running on this rig and it runs just fine, I installed it and used an old hard drive to test out what read and writes are like on it, they seem okay and are perfectly acceptable for what I want to use it for. The problem is that I can't figure out a way to move the data from an existing drive on my system into the NAS without losing any data.
I have tried the programs like the Acronis cloning software to try to clone the data from a drive I have over to the NAS with no success. If someone could give me some advice then it would help me hugely and hopefully allow me to get all of the noisiest parts out of my system.
