More of an upgrade.

Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've done any majoy upgrades for my build so I've decided once uni's finished to get my parts sorted and up to date.

Current rig;

Q9450

6GB PC2-6400

MSI p35

9800GT AMP!

Unfortunately I won't be able to upgrade all of it, so I wanted to keep around the £400 mark. My uses are gaming (Crysis, Portal, COD, etc.) and 3d application work (3ds Max, Maya, MudBox, ZBrush). My ideal upgraded parts mainly focus around the CPU, Mobo and RAM;

i5 2500k

Gigabyte z68x-UD3P (should I stretch it to the UD4?)

8GB Corsair Vengeance (blue)

So what do you think? Currently my build is watercooled (CPU and GPU) and I'd like to keep the CPU cooled so I can OC, and when I have enough money upgrade my GPU but keep it air cooled.

THat looks good to me, the 2500K is a great CPU and i think your 9800GT AMP should be able to handle games for now, then maybe you should cxonsider an upgrade with somthing such as a GTX 560 or a GTX 480; you can get them realy cheap now.

Thanks for your input!

Yeah, my 9800GT is doing well running Crysis (which I'm actually shocked with) but I'm considering getting a nVidia card and keeping this one for physX.

Although, I'm not sure when I'll be able to purchase a new GPU... Possibly when I have a job!

You think i should go for the UD3P or stretch the budget to the UD4? I'm a bit indecisive... You reckon it'll be worth the extra £15?

Well I do a lot of high poly renders with my 3d apps, hence the 8GB.

Also I wanted to go for one of the Gigabyte boards, mainly because of the all black finish. Wanted to move away from MSI too, the board I have now isn't too great for OC (as well as the CPU).

The old parts I was going to put into my parent's PC as they're having issues with the one they have now.
