Monitor resolution Benchmarks.

"I'm Puzzled"! I don't understand why in many of Tom's graphs, he test at 1080p and 4k. Why not include 1440p in all of the tests as well? Many past videos he mentions that 1440p is the new sweetspot; but lately, I don't see any recent graphs at the 1440p level. I'm now wondering if I should go with the 1440p level in monitors or choose the 1080p. I'm still running a 1920x1200 at 60hz.

Thanks for the link. I guess from the tests, different games scale differently and some will barely achieve or maintain 60+ fps at various resolutions and that other titles can achieve 60 and more fps.

If you can please answer me. In your opinion; you may or may not have the hardware I'm looking in to purchasing, but if you had a single 1080 TI graphics card and had to choose between one monitor being a 1080p or 1440p, which one would you choose and why.

I will be asking many others this same question to make sure I make the right choice. I never had any experiences with either of these resolutions at the 144hz levels. Just the 1080p at 60 hz. I know from past comments that going from 60hz to 144hz is like day and night. And everyone is telling me that I need to upgrade cause I'm mission out on a lot of eye-ball candy, so to speak.

Oh and I probably will be using the latest z370's Coffee Lake 8300k cpu.

So I value your opinion greatly.

I'm not SPS, but I'd go for the 1440p, as the amount of power that the 1080ti uses would be overkill (massively) for 1080p.

If you want to go 1080p, imho get a gtx 1070.

For 1080Ti I'd get a 1440p at least. You can run some games at 4K but if not you can always set the resolution to 1440p. My only gripe with 4K is that Windows is an awful experience at 4K as you tend to want some level of scaling on most apps.

Almost everything I do will have 1440p - there is an author name at the top of each review btw.

It would be like your GPU was at the office, with its feet up on the desk while casually sending mails to colleagues . With a 1440p its at least gotta work for its money! especially @120hz +

1080p @ 144hz will still be held back by a 1080ti on high game settings.

Unless you are after 240hz 1080p, go for 1440p. Other than that their is no point to a 1080ti at 144hz, let alone 60hz.

Yeah, I was planning on getting the 1080 TI with a 1440p monitor and the G-Sync option. But just wanted to hear others opinions. Now I have to wait for the Coffee Lake Processor to be released for sale again.
