Mixing Coolants

Hey, tomorrow I've got a delivery of some new w/c parts which are going to make my loop bigger and probably push the water capacity over 1L.

Like an idiot I just bought 1 bottle of premix like I usually do, and now I'd really rather not have to buy another/wait for it to arrive.

Would it be okay to mix it with some tap water, maybe about 300ml?

I know they all say not to mix with other coolants etc. and that you shouldn't use tap water anyway, but will it be okay with the premix having biocides in it already? It's Mayhems Premix UV if it helps

Orly? I didn't know they sold it, I work almost next door so I'll pick some up when I'm next in, thanks a lot :)

If they don't have it try a local plumbers supplier, it's the only place around me I can get distilled water from

DI or distilled water should be available in many DIY shops as well, in case you're having really bad luck trying to find it in the other suggested places :)

De-ionized and Distilled water is different. Battery top up water is de-ionized.

Doesn't make much difference in the case of watercooling. De-ionized is fine and is recommended for mixing with most Mayhems products anyway. Their 'concentrate' bottles all say to mix with De Ionized water.

The stuff from halfords is perfect, been using that for donkeys, never had an issue with it :)

YOu could probs pick it up in tesco or somewhere like that as ironing water, if i remember correctly and thats also dirt cheap, just double check its distilled, and non fragranced.

Pharmacys can be another source. They sometimes have it in for CPAP machines, whatever they are?!? I googled it and it looks like it's some sort of breathing aid.

Cheers,
Ulijin.
