Midnight Smurf - My First Build

Greetings OC3D!

After wanting to do it for a VERY long time, I'm finally putting together my first build. I'm going for a medium to high end gaming rig with a blue and black color scheme. Here's my wishlist for parts so far:

http://secure.newegg...Number=16600391

Along with these parts, I am getting some BitFenix Spectre Pro Blue LED fans, some Alchemy cable extensions (again, in blue), and maybe some LEDs.

I already have the 650D case, the 850W PSU, the G-SKILL Memory, and the Vertex 4 SSD. The reason it's been taking me so long to get these parts together is I am just waiting for deals on everything (for example, I know the 850W is overkill for this build but I got it for a GREAT deal). Hopefully I will have all the parts accumulated by the end of June and will be able to get my build together shortly after! Any feedback/suggestions are welcome, and I'll try to keep this post updated with pictures if you are interested! I am going to put A LOT of time into this thing and can almost guarantee it will look amazing!

PS: This was my first post, so take this as an introduction as well

Nice overview of the case

Power supply in the case, waiting for the rest of the hardware:

SSD box (SSD is currently in my laptop until I can use it in this build):

A crappy picture of where I think I have to put the case (don't think there's enough room under my desk, case is bigger than I thought):

I'm setting up a custom water loop eventually so I won't need your n00b closed loop H100

Haha your build looks awesome man, can't wait until I can get mine together!

PS: Anyone got any build-name ideas? I'm thinking something to do with night/dusk/something blue.

I'm looking for build names, not the name of the next book in the Twilight series!

I kid I kid, in all seriousness I don't think I'll really name it unless I come up with something really clever, I've never been one to do that sort of thing. Thanks for the help!

The dark Smurf

Black Smurf

Stock Smurf

Iron Smurf

I could go on but you get the idea. personally I think best not to force a name unless you really want/need one abd if one jumps out at you

good luck with the build and remember to keep them cables tidy.

Here to help.

Think Im going to edit his post so we dont have to look at that terrible PSU or crappy SSD /tell hes new here/

Hello to you too Tom...

The PSU and SSD work, that's all I'm after. If anything goes wrong you can rub it in my face, but until then I'll go about my merry way. Love the videos by the way...

I thought OCZ made pretty good SSD's

From what I've seen and heard Tom has never had good experiences with OCZ stuff, so I don't blame him from staying away. Hopefully I have better luck!

On a side note, I don't think I'm going to be able to afford a 670 in the end so I swapped it for a 570 for now, and am gonna wait and see how the 660 is when it comes out.

I would wait for the 660 but the 570 is still pretty legit.
