Memory problems **Moved*

Well I'm not sure what's up, but today a RAM module that I RMA'ed for replacement (was rated for DDR2-800, but failed memtest after 10 minutes on DDR2-533) came in, and just for kicks I installed it into the system to see what would happen, and much to my surprise, everything came back to life. I then proceeded to remove the replacement module, and re-insert the old one, and everything still worked. Now I have both of them in, and it's running again. I guess maybe I just accidentally did something to cause the module to become unseated, though I'm kind of skeptical that I would screw things up that badly and not even notice. At any rate, lapped CPU is up and running, none the worse for wear, apparently, so now I can put my settings back in, and then see if it made any difference in temps

Oh, and what is this "reputation" score? Is it like the "karma" system from Fallout? If I shoot a child in the face with my plasma rifle for ruining the shiny finish on my power armor by throwing a rock at it, does my reputation go down for the rest of the game?

Reps are when you help others or do good posts.

Others can give you rep points to show you are a good forum member :)

Ah, was wondering where that post flew off to. Does this mean that I shouldn't report the temperature results of lapped vs. non-lapped CPU in the other thread, or was the memory thing just too non-relevant to the lapping topic?

And just to clarify, the memory problem is solved, the replacement module G.Skill sent appears to work just fine.

Fallout rocked :rocker:. Used to play Fallout 2 a lot, but the Fallout Tactics sucked imo...

Yep, they're supposedly making Fallout 3 now, but it will use the Oblivion engine, along with its real-time combat. So it will be a non-strategic slideshow...but at least there (probably) won't be any magic.

Nah, Tactics was great imo, you could have it turn based or rts, so you got what you wanted either way. I think the missions took too long though.

No go ahead. I just moved this where it seemed more appropriate :)
