Review: XP-120
Well, for starters, i will be reviewing the Thermalright XP-120 heatsink.
It fits on sockets: 754,478,939,940, and if you buy a separate retension bracket (5usd) it will fit socket T (LGA 775)
Pros:
its size.
it fits a 120mm fan on top of it!!!!l
It has 5 heatpipes.
no screws are required for a fan either.
light weight
its a thermalright
copper heatpips and copper base
nickel plated
light weight aluminum fins
Cons:
its size. not all motherboards can fit this beast on it, and some require bending of caps on your motherboard and sometimes peope can not use dimm 1. even if it fits on your motherboard, it might not fit in your case.
$50 price tag before a fan.
With this heatsink, i dropped my load temps from 60*c to 40*c on my 3500+ newcastle overclocked to 2.64ghz.
load temps did not increase over 45*C even at 1.675 vcore.
idle temps from 42*c to 29*c
i use this heatsink along with a panaflo medium.
www.sidewindercomputers.com has them for the lowest price i have seen.
so to summarize, this thing is massive, light weight, gets the job done, and costs $50
motherboard compatibility chart is at the bottom of this page
