media centre pc not working havnt a clue why

Hi I just built a media centre PC and it was working amazingly but then I activated windows and installed Microsoft security essentials and it all went to pot.

The remote access put the PC into sleep and waked it up now it puts it into sleep and wakes it up but I never gt a picture back on the monitor I have to reset it .

It now tales over 2 minuets to get past the bios splash screen shot even with everything unplugged and this not even displayed over HDMI.

What are the specs? It sounds like a bad hard drive to me. I had a similar situation when my Caviar Black died.
