Hello guys,
need help ,i want to buy Samsung 970 PRo M2 and I'm not sure if this SSD will fit with my current motherboard I have Asus Maximus VII ranger on Z97 chipset with 1060 -6gb graphics card.
thank you all for your help :)

Hmm, not sure what the PCIe configuration on that board is. I think it uses PCIe 2.0 lanes, which run at half the speed of PCIe 3.0, and shares these PCIe lanes with the bottom PCIe 16x slot.

Looking at pictures of the board, it seems to say that it has M.2 2280 support (M.2 cards that are 22mm wide and 80mm long). Check this on your board to confirm this. Should say it beside the M.2 screws.

Hello again,
so for this motherboard is better to buy Samsung 960 Evo M.2 PCIe?

No. They are basically the same. And any other NVME drive.

I have Z97 Deluxe, and i was looking into putting NVME drive on my board. The thing is that M.2 slot is only 10Gb/s (M.2 on new boards is 40Gb/s) but if you put NVME SSD in black PCIE slot on your motherboard it is 20GB/s. Wich means you will get max reed/write speeds of 2.560 MB/s. You can't get max rated 3.500 MB/s reads. But, realistically, when will you get those speeds anyway? Writes will be maxed out, and you will get the benefit of 4K NVME read/write speeds.

So... Get NVME to PCIE card (like this this ASUS one), put your 970 PRO in black PCIE and enjoy NVME speeds.
