After hearing your kb has more germs than a toilet seat...then seeing the mysterious black grime on my kb (plus the usual crap like cat hair u get under the keys!!) I have decided its time for a good clean. We have all heard of the dishwasher trick but has anyone done this with a saitek eclipse (not gamer nor saitek 2...its the original) and survived to tell the story (type the story even)

If its not safe to try what else would be the most effective way of cleaning?

you can pop the keys out and clean behind them (tested with eclipse II)

So in theory i cud take all keys out - warm soapy water and a cloth to wipe around underneath + individually clean the manky keys and the manky enclosure? If i unscrew the allen key screws on the corners would that seperate dirty stuff from electronics meaning i could wack it in the dishwasher (low temp clean?) or wud a manual wash still be most effective

Yeah, that would work, but don't worry too much about the bacterial aspect of it. you will never get rid of them all.

Fun fact, there are more bacterial cells in your body than human cells.

Best way to clean a keyboard is to become a keyboard warrior and start using it as your weapon of choice, the dirt just comes flying out

Plus the fact its not only bacteria...but grime too :S
