macintosh forum?

I'm not sure how many people here use macs or even just apple hardware (ipod's, keyboards, screens etc). I just notice there is no section for it.

I know there is a " OS & Apps" section, altho that is predominantly winblows stuff and there is a lot more to apple/mac than just software.

I think windows should be seperated from linux/unix + osx aswell :( (even if vista is microshaft osx)

I guess it depends on demand tho, I couldn't seem to make a poll tho. :(

How about a non-win build section ? Mobile phone OSs can be in there too ?

That would probably add to the fan base ?

Be interesting too, for me anyways. Prehaps u can convince the hosts to have just 1 forum folder with all of the topics u described there-in.

Don`t know how much of a pita it would be for the hosts to give it a trial, u know - see how popular it is. OR more importantly, would they think it`s too much off the mainstream of the emphasis of the forum..

Nice idea to me tho ;)

Can you overclock a MAC?

Show me an overclocked Mac and I'll think about it :p

LOL yeah.

Despite having nothing against our OSX friends, I don't think we really need a dedicated forum/subforum for such a small audience. The 'Software' or 'Hardware - Other' section is probably the best place to post.

Actually you can, it's not that hard.

Most of them could be overclocked by modifying the motherboard physical settings.

w00t :D

Someone get one and overclock it

Still basically the sensible answer would be what XMS put: I don't think there's enough audience for it.

An operating system is an operating system - post about OSX in there

Mac hardware can go under hardware other

maybe make a other O/S forum or something, or opensource etc. For unix/linux there are loads of uses.

Routers/Firewalls/Desktops/Servers/CCTV DVRMs etc etc. (Netgear/Linksys are a good example)

It just gets a bit annoying when people post about stuff with the assumption that you are using windows :( (something you often get in the "OS & Apps" section)

I thought this forum was about cutting edge stuff and computer/technology enthusiasts, not just average windows desktop users  (or 'only' overclocking, altho the name would suggest gfx overclocking)

I would expect a lot of people to have iPods etc and have already seen/read posts about people using linux etc.

eg: http://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=7501

Also with the number of people showing interest to the latest macintosh products like iPhone etc, just shows there is at least some interest in them doesn't it?

Mac/Unix/Linux users may be different but we're proud to be different and gain so much more than the average everyday 'lemming' who uses windows

a mac uses the same hardware as windows these days, the only difference is the OS

It doesn't even use a BIOS  EFI ?? :p

(Altho it can emulate BIOS)

Just because it is x86, doesn't mean it is the same as a standard pc

The Graphics cards on the Mac Pro (and other macs) are also different in that they seem to have more rom for the macintosh boot code (boot menu etc)

To be honest: We've set up forums before on request because people thought that the site needed them. Then the forums went totally unused with only a couple of posts in there so we had to delete them.

If we see lots of posts in the incorrect areas with no alternative place to put them, then we'll definitely set up a suitable forum - but until that time, we'd rather keep the forum as streamlined as possible.
